JAMES A. MARLATT James A. Marlatt of Brussels and formerly of Goderich died at St. Joseph's Health Centre, London on Tuesday, Dec. 8, 1992. He was 67. An artist, Mr. Marlatt was bom in Hamilton on April 10, 1925. He was a son of the late Robert L. Marlatt and the former Mary Anderson. Mr. Marlatt was a member of the Brussels Legion Branch #218. He will be lovingly remembered by his children Lynn and Ron Bear­ den of Toronto, Steve and Marisa Marlatt of Georgetown and Larry Marlatt of Toronto. Two grand­ children, Bianca and Jeffrey Mar­ latt are also left to mourn his passing. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Robert O. Ball of North Street United Church at the McCal­ lum & Palla Funeral Home, Goderich on Friday, Dec. 11. Cremation has taken place. MARINUS VAN VEEN Marinus van Veen of RR 2, Brus­ sels died suddenly at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Dec. 9 after a brief illness. He was 86. Mr. van Veen was bom in Hol­ land in 1907 and came to Canada in 1948 with his wife Aagje Oud- shoorn. The family settled and farmed in the Alma area. In 1954. Mr. van Veen and his two sons took up farming in the Brussels area. He was the father of Gerrit and his wife Helen and Pete and his wife Margaret, all of Brussels; Alie and her husband Case Rietkerk of RR 7, Lucknow, Clara Van Merkenstein of Waterloo, Martha and her husband Comelis de Boer of RR 2, Clinton and Agnes and her husband Hank TenPas of Brus­ sels. He had 26 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. Mr. van Veen is survived by eight sisters and two brothers in Holland and one brother in Califor­ nia. He is predeceased by two brothers and one sister. Funeral services were held on Saturday in the Listowel Bible Chapel. Pallbearers were Mark, Paul, David, Dan, Steve and John van Veen.
