Huron County Board of Ed. briefs The Huron County Board of Edu cation is considering lengthening the March break from one week to two. Since the Huron-Perth Roman Catholic Separate School Board is seriously considering lengthening the break, the board needs to con sider it also since the two boards share transportation costs in some areas. The idea was discussed by the education committee, chaired by Trustee Norman Pickell who stated "It was felt by the committee that the school system should be mov ing towards an increase in the num ber of instructional days." Before deciding on the matter, the committee requested informa tion from administration on the impact it would have on transporta tion costs. The Board has hired an addition al audio-visual technician and com puter technician. The cost of both these employees had been included in the 1992 bud get. They weren't hired until now because the technicians will also work with the separate school board. It wasn't until this time that the separate school board was able to afford the employees. Trustees belonging to the man agement committee were impressed with renovations at Brookside Pub lic School. Committee members toured the facility recently and looked at the new library resource centre, special education space and parent inter view room, office complex, health room and alterations to washrooms for the mobility handicapped. The three classroom addition, which is near completion, was also inspect ed. Committee Chair Rick Rompf said, "We were satisfied with the standard of work and the manner in which alterations complemented the original structure."
