Brussels Livestock Report: Very active demand for all classes of cattle Sales at Brussels Livestock for the week ending Nov. 27 were: fed cattle, 943; cows, 421; veal calves, 176; lambs and goals, 248; stockers, 1200; and pigs, 150. The market at Brussels Livestock saw all classes of cattle selling on a very active demand. Fed cattle sold $4 higher with cows selling $6 - $8 higher. There were 605 steers on offer selling from $95 to $100 to the high of $105.00. One steer consigned by Harvey Hoggart, Londesborough, weighing 1120 lbs. sold for $105.00. Fifty- six steers consigned by Maple Ridge Farms, Brussels, averaging 1293 lbs. sold for an average of $99.22 with sales to $104.35. Forty-three steers consigned by Beattie Bros. Farms Ltd., Stayner, averaging 1353 lbs. sold for an average of $98.47 with sales to F arm $103.25. The presentation was made in Clinton Nov. 27. 4-H awards presented North Huron residents scooped up plenty of awards at the annual Huron County 4-H Awards Night at Clinton Friday but the biggest award, the Murray Cardiff Award for Citizenship, went south. Mr. Cardiff presented the award to Kris McNaughton of Kippen. Ms McNaughton has completed 25 agricultural and lifestyle 4-H clubs, been a junior leader and attended the 4-H Members Conference, leadership camp, Silver Dollar Competition and Go for the Gold competition. Outside 4-H, she is a member of Ontario Students Against Impaired Driving, is involved in the Drug Awareness Program, is a member of the school soccer team, works on both the school newspaper and the school yearbook, attended the International Girl Guide Camp and is a Junior Leader for the Girl Guides and is a swimming instruc­ tor and life guard. The award capped a busy night for Ms McNaughton. Earlier she had won the Canadian Co-operative Wool Growers Trophy for having the champion 4-H fleece at the Seaforth Fall Fair and the Old Mill Award for the highest points by a sheep club member. She was also a member of the top team in the county judging competition, shar­ ing the Hallrice Dairy Club Team judging Competition Award.
