"Nicole's Hairstyling" Four-year-old Michelle kelly-Bell of Blyth was finger-printed by Doris Osgood Saturday but not because she’s a criminal. Rather, her fingerprints were recorded on a special information envelope supplied by Child Find of Huron County to which Ms Osgood belongs. The procedure is known as a 'kidcheck' and helps police officers identify missing and abducted children. The Blyth Optimists sponsored the event at Blyth Public School. CRC collects for sailors Greeters at Blyth Christian Reformed Church on Sunday, Nov. 29, were John and MirJam Vanderwal. Ushers were, Brenda Verburg and Gerry Exel. Leading the congregation in worship for both services was Mr. Robert Datema, who is presently pursuing further studies in the Ministry. The topic for the morning message was: “Advent Advice: Having Great Expectations.” Scripture was taken from Luke 11: 1-13, with the focal text verse 9. The Law was first read from Exodus 20 with the summary of the Law received from Psalm 65 in light of the Advent Season. The hymn of response to the Law was No. 470, “Abide With Me”, with Mrs. Hinke Bakelaar serving as organist. In the announcements Mrs. Grace Lubbers and Tony DeBoer will be remembered in prayer this coming week, as will those unable to be at worship services. The monetary offering was taken up for the local Church and also the Seafarers Ministry out of Montreal, a Centre which reaches out to sailors who come- to port temporarily in Montreal. After the collection, Mr. Datema stated that today marks the beginning of the advent season where we prepare for the celebration of the coming of Jesus Christ, for four Sundays consecutively. Prayer is advice for us all, said Mr. Datema. Jesus advised the disciples in the New Testament to pray. Advent is expectation he said. If we are to have real contact and wish to relate to God, then we need to converse with him. Too often we wait for a time of crisis or personal struggle before we reach out in prayer to God. The Bible recommend persis- tance and endurance in our prayers. Jesus' advice to believers is to ask freely, confidently, and with great expectation. Our prayers will be answered according to God's will for us. The hymn of expectation was No. 335, “Come Thou Long Expected Jesus”. After the morning service John and Mirjam Vanderwal served coffee to members and guests, for a time of conversation and fellowship. In charge of three-year-old Sunday School today was Elizabeth DeWit and Nancy Greidanus. Correction Last week's report of the Blyth Lions euchre winners was printed incorrectly. It should have read: Jason Fleet, Troy Carter, first, $50; Marg Anderson, Alice Buchanan, second, $45 (donated $10 back to club); Claude Paurier, Matt Townsend, third, $30; Martin Pau rier, Michelle Nesbit, booby prize, $10 and Ken Johnston, 50/50 draw winner. We apologize for the error. • Christmas Decorations Cards Wrapping Paper Chocolates Timex Watches Pin Wheel Crystal China (fine bone) Jewellery boxes men's & ladies' Buxton Wallets Perfume Something for everyone on your Christmas List SPEC AL this week December 3, 4 & 5 15% Off all boxed Chr stmas Cards Wilson's Health & Gift Centre Blyth 523-4440 NOTICE VILLAGE OF BLYTH MONTHLY SEWER RATES Effective January 1st, 1993 Village of Blyth Monthly Sewerage Service Rate will be as follows: Residential - $23.50 Commercial - $29.52 Village of Blyth Council NOTICE VILLAGE OF BLYTH WATER RATES Effective January 1st, 1993 Village of Blyth Water Rates will be as follows: Monthv Residential - $13.00 Commercial - $15.00 Metered - $1.50 per 1,000 gallons $1.00 per month collected through residential and commercial rates will be considered toward capital expenditures along with .200 per 1,000 gallons.
