Twenty-one members enjoyed a pot luck dinner followed by their monthly meeting. An invitation was extended to Bly th Seniors to join with Belgrave, Nov. 20 for a dessert euchre and lost heir at 12:30 p.m. A report was given on the progress of plans for the bus trip to the Royal Winter Fair, Nov. 12. It was decided to meet Thursday, Nov. 16 at 1:30 p.m. for shuffle­ board with the aim of setting up teams and schedule for the winter months. Progressive shoot parties are to be held, Oct. 30 and Nov. 4 at 24 tables in play at euchre tournament in Belgrave Nine tables were in play at the weekly euchre which was held in the W.I. Hall, Belgrave, Wednesday, Oct. 21. Winners were: high lady, Mrs. Stuart Chamney; second high lady, Mrs. Hilda Vincent; lone hands, lady, Mrs. Helen Martin; low lady, Mrs Nancy Tucker; high man, Robert Grasby; second high man, Lloyd Appleby; lone hands, man, Garner Nicholson and low man, Mel Jacklin. Twenty-four tables were in play for the euchre tournament which was held in the Belgrave Community Centre, Friday, Oct. 16 and was sponsored by the Belgrave Arena Board. Winners were: high score, Loma and Clayton Ellis; second high, Cheryl Hardie and Jim McGillawee; third high, Betty Archambault and Eileen Sellers and low, Cathy and Murray Mulvey. Kinsmen Calendar winners The winners of the Belgrave Kinsmen Calendar Draw last week were: Sunday, October 17, Jerry Wickens, Kitchener, $50; Sunday, October 18, Doreen Ross, Goderich, $50; Monday, October 19, Marion Hallahan, Blyth, $50; Tuesday, October 20, Judy Gibb, Kitchener, $50; Thursday, Octo- ber 22, S.A. Tilbrook, Wingham, $50; Friday, October 23, Shawn Jacklin, Brussels, $100; and Saturday, October 24, Jack and Carol Shaw, Bluevale, $50. 1:30 p.m. The meeting was adjourned and a social time of cards and shuffleboard followed. Sympathy extended to Weber family Belgrave friends and neighbours extend sincere sympathy to Mrs. Carl Weber, Wingham; Clare and Faye Weber and Gary and Marlene Jamieson and son Chris of Belgrave in the loss of a dear husband, father and grandfather Carl Weber of Wingham who passed away in the Wingham and District Hospital Monday, Oct. 19. Last Monday night, John and Marie McIntosh and Clarence and Mildred Yuill returned from a four- day bus tour to Kentucky. They attended the Saturday night bam dance at Renfro Valley and on their ’way back, visited the Kentucky Horse Park near Lexington. A family dinner was also held in their honour at the family home. Nicholsons celebrate golden anniversary Friends and family gathered at Belgrave WI Hall on Sunday, Oct. 25 to honour Garner and Alice Nicholson of RR5, Brussels on the occasion of their golden wedding anniversary. It was Hallowe'en in 1942 when Gamer Nicholson and Alice Edna Cook were united in marriage by Rev. Hugh Wilson at Brussels United Church. The bride, a daugh­ ter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Cook was attended by Zella Crawford of Goderich. The groom, son of Mr. and Mrs. Garner Nicholson was attended by Ernest Crawford also of Goderich. After the honeymoon the newly- weds departed for a honeymoon trip to Tillsonburg and Hamilton. Mr. Nicholson was a farmer until his retirement in 1990. His special interests include being a member of the Brussels Legion Pipe Band. Mrs. Nicholson was a housewife and raised their family. The Nichol­ sons attend Knox Presbyterian Church in Belgrave. Mrs. Nichol­ son is a member of the Women's Missionary Society and Belgrave Women's Instutite. Special guests at the open house included the bridal attendants, a brother and sisters and their spous­ es. In addition to the open house a family dinner was held at home. The Nicholsons' family is Ron and Linda of Barrie, Margaret Glyn Wide of Hamilton, Ray and Cindy of Elmira and Rob and Judy of Lis- towel and several grandchildren. Matt Maxwell will be performing at The Livery in Goderich Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. His concerts are a mix of his own work and traditional song which he has adapted such as a rock version of Frere Jacques and Kumbaya. Mr. Maxwell's concerts are high­ ly participatory as he invites the audience on stage to do hip-hop dancing, wear monstor masks and play rock kazoo. His shows include costume changes, special lighting effects and fog to create a magical atmosphere. During the show, he also deals with serious issues such as the need to heal the planet and the impor­ tance of racial and cultural cooper­ ation. This performance is part of the seventh season of Theatre Pour Vous, professional French language entertainment and cultural enrich­ ment for Huron County families.
