Guest speaker was Dave Rapson, who spoke on recycling wood waste. Mr. Rapson, owner of Total Demolition, gave an informative talk regarding his move to recycle wood waste and other building material. He decided on a shredding machine to recycle the product for such things as animal bedding, landscape chips, and fuel. Then he needed to find suitable property. A 100 acre site at Lot 18, Cone. 6 in Morris Township was secured, which is about one mile from the existing township landfill site. It has been fenced to Ministry of Environment specifications and has received a certificate of approval to proceed. He has material of his own now and had several samples on hand to show how it was broken up. He also had a book of pictures of the work which were most interesting. Mr. Rapson introduced by convenor Betty McCall was thanked and presented with an envelope of money on behalf of the Walton Women's Institute. Ruth Axtmann presided for the meeting opening with the Institute Ode and Mary Stewart Collect. “O Canada” was sung. Marjory Humphries read the minutes and treasurer's report. The roll call was “name something containing recycled material”. It was reported 65 people had McKillop council plans for snow removal McKillop council accepted a $51 per hour tender for snow removal at their Oct. 6 meeting. Council voted to accept the ten­ der from Machan Construction for snow removal between Dec. 1, 1992 to March 31, 1993. Margaret Mclnroy gave several reports from the Huron-East meeting at Fordwich Area Convention and the Huron County Rally held in Brussels, Oct. 5. Next year's District Annual is to be held at Walton on Tuesday, May 11. The theme is “Together we Achieve.” The Area Convention is Oct. 27-28, 1993 in Brussels. A donation will be made to the Poppy Fund and the Institute will cater to the Cranbrook Foresters banquet on Nov. 10. There will be a training school for “decor accent” held in the hall on Saturday, Oct. 24 from which leaders Berva Watson and Ruth Axtmann will teach anyone interested. The next Institute meeting was requested to be an open meeting when Marlene Roberton will be guest speaker on Women's Health Issues for Family and Consumers Affairs with convenor Marion Godkin. This closed the business. The Institute Grace preceded a tasty lunch served by Ruth Axtmann and Marion Godkin. Still on the topic of snow removal, councillors decided to hire Leslie Glanville as a part-time snow plow equipment operator for this winter season. In other business, council instructed road superintendent, Wayne Dolmage to petition for interim payment under the Public Transportation and Highway Banks family welcomed to United Church The Covenanting Service was held Sunday evening, Oct. 18 at the Bluevale United Church to welcome Rev. Randy N. Banks B.A.M. Div., and his family to the community of the Walton-Bluevale Pastoral Charge. Presiding for the service was the Rev. Jeff Hawkins B.A.M. Div. Scriptures were read by the Rev. Ivan Dambrowitz and the Rev. Doug Wright, who also gave the sermon on “The Apprehension of New Beginnings”. A joint Walton-Bluevale choir sang the anthem “I Could Never Outlove Thee Lord”. A special trio comprised of Mary-Lou Johnston, Carol Nicholson and Eileen Sellers sang “Cleanse Me.” The music was under the leadership of Mary-Lou Johnston and Etoile Johnston. Taking part in the special service were chairman of Presbytery, the Rev. Peter D. Tucker B.A.B.D. and representative of Presbytery, the Rev. Wm. Jones B.A.M. Div. Doug Garniss was Master of Ceremonies for the greeting time to welcome Rev. Banks giving a response in a few well chosen words. Food and fellowship hour followed the worship service.
