WI learn about recycling
building material and wood
The Walton Women's Institute
met in the community hall,
Wednesday evening, Oct. 21 for
their Canadian Industries meeting.
Guest speaker was Dave Rapson,
who spoke on recycling wood
waste.
Mr. Rapson, owner of Total
Demolition, gave an informative
talk regarding his move to recycle
wood waste and other building
material. He decided on a
shredding machine to recycle the
product for such things as animal
bedding, landscape chips, and fuel.
Then he needed to find suitable
property. A 100 acre site at Lot 18,
Cone. 6 in Morris Township was
secured, which is about one mile
from the existing township landfill
site. It has been fenced to Ministry
of Environment specifications and
has received a certificate of
approval to proceed. He has
material of his own now and had
several samples on hand to show
how it was broken up. He also had
a book of pictures of the work
which were most interesting.
Mr. Rapson introduced by
convenor Betty McCall was
thanked and presented with an
envelope of money on behalf of the
Walton Women's Institute.
Ruth Axtmann presided for the
meeting opening with the Institute
Ode and Mary Stewart Collect. “O
Canada” was sung. Marjory
Humphries read the minutes and
treasurer's report. The roll call was
“name something containing
recycled material”.
It was reported 65 people had

The next Institute meeting was
requested to be an open meeting
when Marlene Roberton will be

This closed the business. The
