Blyth painter Jo Manning and sculptor Murray Barrett of Lucknow discuss Ms. Manning's
paintings Early Spring and Fenceline hanging on the wall. The paintings, along with Mr.
Barrett's wood sculptures in the foreground were part of the "Meet the Artist" art exhibition at
the Blyth Festival Art Gallery Saturday.
Members of the Blyth United Church choir (from left to right) Bodie Craig, Adeline Campbell,
Deanna Snell, Myrtle Vodden, Cheryl Cronin, Joan Caldwell, John Ramirez, Edelgard Hoba

Harron to appear
in benefit concert
Best known to Canadian
audiences as his alter ego Charlie
Farquharson, Don Harron will give
a Blyth Festival Benefit
performance at Blyth Memorial
Hall on Oct. 30.
Mr. Harron, whose career has
included achievements as an actor,
writer, broadcaster, comic and
producer, is one of Canada's
extraordinary talents. He has
enjoyed an extensive career in
Canadian radio and television and
his accomplished stage career
began in Stratford in 1953 in a lead
role opposite Alec Guinness. The
author of numerous books, Harron
has also written many plays and
scripts including the long-running
adaptation of Anne of Green
Gables at the Charlottetown
Festival.
Charlie Farquharson has had
almost as impressive a career as
Mr. Harron. He was first
introduced to Canadians in the
1952 Spring Thaw Revue and
performed for 18 seasons in the TV
series Hee Haw.
They will be joined on stage by
Don's other alter ego, Valerie
Rosedale. Delighted at an
opportunity to show up Charlie's
true colours, she recently remarked:
"I have known Charlie Farquharson
for more years than I care to count,
and what that man needs is a

muzzle . .. and he'll use any excuse
to get away from the farm (leaving
his wife to do the chores.)" A
delightful evening of satire and wit
with Don , Charlie and Valerie
await all who come to 3's Company
at Blyth Memorial Hall on October
30. The audience is invited to join
Don for the signing of his latest
book at a reception following the
performance. Reserve tickets are
available for $20 each at the Blyth
