The Tigers defeated the visitors. Blyth Legion enters team in tournee Blyth Branch 420 of the Royal Canadian Legion sent a team to the Provincial euchre finals held in Beaverton over the past weekend. There were 48 teams competing for the provincial title. The Blyth team, consisting of Gord Haggitt, John Stewart, Wayne McDougall and Bob Hillis, finished the tournament in fifth place overall. Members are reminded to check the bulletin board for upcoming sports events and to sign up and participate. The Legion will be entering a team in the upcoming minor sports slo-pitch tournament on June 20 in Blyth. Sign up at the Legion in the next week or so. What a card! Steve Coulter shows a Gretzky rookie card valued at $450 at a card show in Brussels, Saturday. Sherry Taylor of RR5, Wingham just missed a chance to advance to OFSSA this weekend in Toronto after taking fifth spot in two events at the OFSSA regional track and field meet in St. Thomas this past Friday and Saturday. A student of F.E. Madill Sec­ ondary School in Wingham, Sher­ ry, 15, competes in the Midget Girls' shot put and discus. Her throw in the shot put was nine metres, 52 centimetres. Her discus throw was just over 26 metres. Sherry said she was relatively happy with her performance though she had hoped for a little better dis­ tance in her discus event, she said. Kara-Lee Potter, 17, of Londes- boro, also competed at the regional meet taking 10th place in her event, the Senior Girls 3,000 metre. Kara- Lee's time was 11 minutes, 50 sec­ onds. This was the Central Huron Sec­ ondary School student's first time at the regionals and she was very pleased to have qualified. "A lot of the other girls were members of track and field clubs in the cities, so I was really happy with my perfor­ mance," she said.
