WAWANOSH NATURE
CENTRE
On Friday, May 22 the grade
eight class visited the Wawanosh
Nature Centre for a morning of
map and compass work
(orienteering). They found this
exercise worthwhile and want to
thank the instructors for the
enjoyable morning. While there
they were taught how to take a
reading on a compass and how to
read a map properly.
THE YARD
The Lions Club will be levelling
the yard sometime in the next two
weeks and students will be building
an exercise trail with 14 different
activities in it. The levelling is
being paid for by the Lions Club.
The following activities will be in
the activity trail. Leg stretch, 3-
level beam, parallel beam, 3-way
chin bar, horizontal ladder, sit-up
station, tire trot, inclined wall,
inclined ladder, log wall, log jam,
wall and arch climber, 3-log hop,
inclined beam, and tether ball.
PRIMARY DIVISION
The primary division has been
talking about spring, and reading
and writing stories with a spring
theme. Ms. Nethery's kindergarten
class made a beehive and
honeybees for Jamie Ross who was
a patient in the hospital. Now they
are studying pets.
Grades one and two are doing a
theme unit on grandparents. Ms.
Anonech’s class wrote a spring
poem and decorated it with torn
paper flowers and grass.
Grade two is learning about
quotation marks and writing a book
using them.
Mrs. Uhler's grade three class is
reading and writing about their
families and they made a cloth
puppet. All the primary students are
very happy to see spring and are
certainly enjoying the outdoors.

MRS. BOSMAN
GRADES ONE & TWO
Mrs. Bosman's grade one-two are
finding out all about what lives
under the sea, these days, and it's
really interesting. Nathaniel Peel
brought a wonderful video tape
about Sea World. Students are
going to be making their own toy
octopus to take home at the end of
this unit.
Michael Moore has been away
for the last week. He had his tonsils
and adenoids out.
Happy Birthday to Kelly Van
Baaren, who was seven on May 27.
The class has been busy with Mrs.
Pietsch during Environmental
Studies learning all about marbles.
They've made beautiful marble
bags and they can play all kinds of
games involving marbles like
Chinese Checkers and Kerplunk.
GRADE THREE
by Melissa Snell
Grade threes have been playing
chess with people from different
grades.
Mrs. Radford, the grade three
teacher, made a large magnetic
chess board for the grade three
students to play chess on. It's fun
planning our moves.
MR. GRIFFIN, MRS. LAURIE
