WI sees video presentation The February meeting of the Walton Women’s Institute was held last Wednesday evening al the home of Berva Watson. Ten mem­ bers were present to view the video presentation of the associated country women of the world on ‘Women Feed the World’. The theme “New Outlook” at the F.W.I.C. 12th National Convention that was held in Victoria last July. It was giving an insight of what they do in the third world. The second video shown after the business was on the 11 command­ ments for a Perfect Team. Margaret Mclnroy presided for the business. After the opening exercises Marjory Humphries read minutes and correspondence was dealt with. Thank you cards were read. It was decided the Wardrobe Wizardry will start Wed., Feb. 26. In the roll call, many suggestions were given for meetings for next year. Berva conducted a quiz. It was reported a good crowd had attended the noon luncheon that day. Next luncheon is March 18. Nominating committee to bring in slate of officers at next meeting are Margaret Mclnroy, Marjory Humphries and Ruth Axtmann. Following the Institute Grace, lunch was served by Viola Kirkby, Marjory Humphries and the host­ ess. Morris hires dog counter Morris Township Council called a special meeting Tuesday, Feb. 11 to review the Community Centre Board's budget and agreement for 1992. The meeting was held at the Belgrave Community Centre with the Belgrave Community Centre Board and the Council of East Wawanosh Township. Morris Township and East Wawanosh Township granted $1500.00 each, for 1992, to the Belgrave Community Centre Board. The grant will be paid in July or prior per request. The agreement will be further reviewed prior to February 28, 1993. Morris Township Council was advised on Thursday, Feb. 6, by Road Superintendent Lloyd Michie, that the actual cost of the bucket for the tractor, would be slightly above the estimate. He also advised council that the snow storm the week of January 14, at a cost of approximately $10,000.00. Council decided to advertise for 300 flake ton of calcium chloride, and for 30,000 imperial tons of "A" gravel for the north side of the township, for 1992. It will be speci­ fied in the tender that the gravel should not be applied to the roads by the end of June or not until September. The application of Carl McLel­ lan, R.R.4 Brussels, was accepted for the position of dog counter, issuing tags and collecting tax at the rate of $2.50 per dog. Mr McLellan is authorized to only travel a road once. Reeve Douglas Fraser will attend the Members of Parliament Dinner on March 28, 1992, as council's representative. Council adopted the policy regarding fencing around Munici­ pal drains, in conjunction with the CURB Program, sponsored by the Ministry of the Environment and MVCA. The council was advised that 1991 ended with approximately $25,000.00 surplus. Goderich woman win 649 draw A 70-year-old Goderich woman won the second prize in Lotto 649 recently. Mrs. Edna Powell will receive $256,337.10. The widowed, mother of five plans to bank some of the money for the time being but will take a trip to England to visit fami­ ly she says. She also intends to share some of her good fortune with family. Mrs. Powell also has eight grand­ children and one great-grandchild.
