Another special day to celebrate 90 years for Huron East District W.I. is being planned for Sunday, June 7, at Howick Central School. The theme chosen for this occasion is, “Honour our past, Salute the present, Welcome the future”. Mrs. Peggy Knapp, FWIO immediate- past-president has been invited as the special guest speaker. Each branch in the district will be con tributing some history and enter tainment to this celebration. AuburnThe news from Compiled by Mildred Lawlor Phone 526-7589 Pastor begins service with poetry reading On January 19 at Auburn Mis sionary Church Pastor Came read John 14: 11-21. How can anyone do greater things than Jesus did? The disciples' purpose in life was to spread the gospel even if it meant losing their life. When the Holy Spirit came upon the disciples they were able to speak in at least 15 languages. Do we keep looking to see what God is doing and can do in our church? Special music was given by Dave and Dianne Baan who sang “In the Garden”. On January 26, Pastor Came opened the service by reading a poem “The Music Will Never End”. The special music was by Deb Siertsema and Darlene Vander Veen. They sang “Jesus Lift Me Up”, “Lay Down the Burden of Your Heart”, “That's the Love of God”, using their guitars for accompaniment. Pastor Came's message was titled “Our Hope of Heaven” with the scripture reading from John 14: 1- 7. How many of us are really inter ested in Heaven? Jesus talked to his disciples about life and heaven before He went on the cross. Hope of Heaven is based on God giving us His Son. Romans 8:32 says, “He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all”. Hope of Heaven is based on our own seri ousness. Are we serious about the warnings that God gives us in His word? One can't walk on two pathways at once. John 5:24 says: “I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be con demned.” The service was closed by singing the hymn “Will Your Name Be Written There”. Euchre There were six tables in play at the Auburn euchre party held Tues day evening, January 21 at the Community Hall.
