The Citizen, 1992-01-29, Page 2PAGE 2. THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 29,1992. Ag. Soc. ends 91 with $1452 loss Brussels Agricultural Society directors learned at the annual meeting Brussels on January 22 that $2,500 had to be taken from the investments to offset an operat ing loss of $1,452.81 for 1991. Treasurer Barb Mutter said the loss could be attributed in large part to the fact that no fundraising had Grade 8’s connect with Kdgn. "Last year we made $1,000 through fundraising, which is approximately what we had to dig into the investments for," said Mrs. Mutter. As well there was more money spent on prizes and displays, but she added it was money well spent as far as she was concerned. President Allan Cardiff remarked on the success of the midway, say ing the gate receipts were good. "There were so many favourable comments we will probably go with the same midway again this year," he said. Homecraft President Lois McCall said the Ladies' Division was pleased with the success and the number of the entries. There were many new people showing exhibits this year, which she felt was a good sign. The food booth made $1,562. Betty Cardiff presented Treasurer Barb Mutter with a gift as she is giving up the position. Melody White has been appointed to fill the vacancy. A motion was made by John McIntosh to hold a fair in 1992. Ralph Watson was unanimously appointed as auditor. Jim Smith questioned why the beef club weren't part of the fair this year, and it was explained that there wasn't enough participants. Betty Johnston agreed that she would like to see the beef club back in Brussels but they need to get more young people interested, before that will happen.
