Slippery road leads to crash Thoughtless snowmobilers concern Blyth council The issue of errant snowmobilers in Blyth was raised once again at the January 8 meeting of council. Brian and Gayle King of Dinsley St., told councillors that the route out of town for snowmobilers is the south side of Dinsley. Since the vil­ lage placed signs at the Horticultur­ al Park stating that snowmobilers Gordon and Nellie Mason of Blyth and Al and Mae Cowie of London went on an 11 -day tour of California to see such sights as the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, Universal Studios, Hol­ lywood, and up the Pacific Coast to end the trip on the Golden Gate Bridge in San Fancisco. They also visited Tijuana, Mexico. Bill Nethery and Kay Cook had the high scores at the Blyth Legion mixed darts night Friday. Kevin Ritchie and Thelma Johnston were second. Mae Ritchie was high lady and Albert Stryker, high man. Nora Kelly and Lloyd Walden had the high scores as the lost heir card parties resumed at Blyth Memorial Hall, Jan. 8. Erma Cook and Millar Richmond had the low scores. Dorothy Daer won the spe­ cial prize. are not allowed in the park, the Kings said many are crossing through their front yard. Reeve Dave Lee assured the Kings that the law regarding snow­ mobilers is covered in the Highway Traffic Act and it is illegal to drive a licensed vehicle underage. Councillor Sparling added that any snowmobilers using someone's property as a thoroughfare are tres­ passing and thereby breaking the law. Should they be injured, the property owner would not be liable. Reeve Lee stressed the fact that it is only a few snowmobilers in town causing problems and it was sug­ gested that if they continue to be a nuisance property owners should call the police. ATTENTION BLYTH-HULLETT RATEPAYER LANDFILL SITE USERS Effective Immediately the Blyth-Hullett Landfill Site Committee have placed a $5.00 tire acceptance fee on all tires dellvered/accepted at Blyth-Hullett Landfill Site. Tires and Scrap Metal are accepted only on Saturday. Blyth-Hullett Landfill Site Committee from the Wingham OPP, the driver of the 1989 Ford pick-up, 64-year- old Robert Ruttan of RR3, Wing­ ham and his son Calvin, 37, of Wingham were travelling north at a stated speed of 75 kilometres an hour when they began to slide on an icy section of the highway Mr. Ruttan lost control and the truck went into the west ditch where it rolled onto its roof, the spokesper­ son said. Damage to the truck was severe.
