Rev. C. Bronsveld was the officiating min­ ister. Cindy is the daughter of Howard and Joan Bernard of Brussels. Har­ vey is the son of Hank and Winnie Kikkert, RR 3, Wingham. Maid of honour was Shannon Rice, Brussels, friend of the bride and bridesmaids were Dianne Diehl, sister of the bride, Joan Kikkert, sister of the groom and Kate Fisher, niece of the bride. With new babies being born to two of the committee and another running successfully for town council and the fourth member taking on new responsibilities at work they have been a little behind in welcoming newcomers to town. However, the community is pleased to welcome Mae and Louis Ebel back to Brussels. After living 26 years in Ingersoll, they have ful­ filled their dream of purchasing a trailer in the trailer park, so they could enjoy retirement in Brussels. Ushers were Allan Kikkert, brother of the groom, David Diehl, brother-in-law of the bride, and Rod Crich, friend of the groom. Cody Diehl, nephew of the bride was ring bearer. Music was provided by Nanda Guichelaar and Charlotte Bouwers, friends of the bride and groom. Following the ceremony, guests were received at the B. M. & G. Community Centre, Brussels. Har­ vey and Cindy honeymooned in southern and northern Ontario and now reside in Wroxeter. The Brussels Agricultural Soci­ ety is holding its annual meeting on January 22 at the Brussels, Morris and Grey Community Centre. There will be a dinner at 7 p.m., followed by the presentation of the 4H awards and school awards. Treasurer Barb Mutter said that anyone interested in coming out to see the presentations is welcome to attend. Area farmer Ross Procter is the guest speaker for the occasion. Tickets are $10 and can be obtained by calling Mrs. Mutter at 887-6117 or Lois McCall at 887- 9303. Brussels councillors held the line on their own pay for 1992 but Pub­ lic Utilities Commissioners took an increase when pay rates were set at the January 6 meeting of Brussels council. Reeve Gordon Workman will continue to get $2,400 a year while councillors will get $1,800 per year. Special meetings will be compensated at $100 for a full day, $75 for a half day. Councillors will be paid 30 cents per kilometre for out of town meetings. The Public Utilities Commission chairman will receive $1600, up from $1400. Commissioners will receive $1325, up from $1200. They will receive the same special meeting and mileage rate as coun­ cillors. The by-law, also confirmed an increase in salaries of out-door workers to $11.50 per hour from $10.80 which was negotiated in November. The hourly rate of the office assistant increased over the past year from $7 to $8.50. In appointments to various boards, Bruce McCall was appoint- Brussels Legion to celebrate Robbie Burns BY SANDRA JOSLING The Brussels Legion Pipe Band is sponsoring a Robbie Bums night at the Brussels Legion Hall on Sat­ urday, January 18. There will be dancing from 9-1 a.m. with a hot buffet being served. Tickets are available at the door. Results of this week's mixed dart night are: Dave Adams and Sandra Josling, first; Bill Nethery and Gord Jacklin, second. High shoot­ ers were Alex Henderson (180) and Sandra Josling (120). Darts are held every Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. Euchre results from Wednesday, January 8 were: high lady, Lois Hart; high man, Gordon Nichol; low lady, Jeanne Ireland; low man, Bill Little. Most lone hands for the ladies was Kitty Rutledge and for the men, Ross Brighton. The next euchre night is Wednesday, Jan­ uary 22 at 7:45 p.m. cost is $1.50 and all are invited. All dogs must be licensed according to By-Law #17-1987 being a by-law to license dogs and prohibit the running at large of dogs. Proof of rabies vaccination must be shown at time of tag purchase. The owner shall within 10 days of becoming such owner, and thereafter within the first 60 days of each calendar year cause it to be registered, numbered, described and licensed at the office of the Clerk. Carol Thornton and Marie Bernard were appointed as crossing guards with John Conley and Mark Howard as their back-ups in case of illness.
