Durham however came back with a goal of their own to make the score 3-3 after two periods of play. The score remained tied until half way through the third when Durham then scored three goals in six minutes. Brussels cut the lead by one with 1:32 left on the clock when Brian Campbell scored with assists going to Fritz and Marty Rutledge but that was as close as they got as Durham added one more goal for a 7-4 win. The Crusaders were back on the road again this past Friday as they travelled to Kincardine to play the Kings. Kincardine took the lead early on as they scored the first two goals of the game. Brussels cut the lead in half with 42 seconds left when Tim Fritz drew the only assist on a Ron Strome goal. The boys tied the game up 12 seconds later when Brian Ten Pas scored an unassisted goal and period ended in a 2-2 tie. The second period was scoreless until there was just over a minute left when Kincardine scored to take a 3-2 lead after two periods of play. The third period was half gone when the Crusaders tied the score on a goal by Fritz with J. C. Hewitt getting the assists. Brussels took the lead four minutes later when Dean Wheeler scored an unassisted goal. The Kings, however came back and tied the game up with 48 seconds left and scored the winning goal with just three seconds left on the clock to take a 5-4 victory over the Crusaders. Sunday saw the Crusaders back on the road, this time to Palmerston to play the 81's. The second period was six min­ utes old when the Crusaders scored again when Fritz finished off a play set up by Ron Strome and Dean Wheeler. Brussels made it 3-0 four minutes later when Fritz won a face-off back to Ken Higgins who scored on a slapshot from the point. Palmerston scored the next goal to take the shutout bid away from goalie Jeff McGavin. Brussels answered that goal back two min­ utes later when Fritz and McArter drew assists on a goal by Dean Nicholson. The period ended with Brussels leading 4-1. The Crusaders took a four-goal lead eight minutes into the third when Strome and Brian Ten Pas combined to set up Rick Boon for the goal. The Crusaders rounded off the scoring with 5:31 left on the clock when Campbell and Fritz combined to send McArter in for a break-away goal. The final score of the game was 6-1 in the Crusaders' favour. On Saturday night the Durham Thundercats hosted the first Annual All-Star game for the WOAA Senior “A” group. Brussels was represented by Tim Fritz, Dean Wheeler and defenceman Rick Boon. Both Fritz and Wheeler scored goals for the South Division but it was not enough and the North Division won the game 7-6. This weekend the Crusaders sec action on Friday when they go to Drayton for a 9:15 game and on Sunday when they play host to Palmerston in a 7:30 start.
