The Citizen, 1992-01-08, Page 11West Wawanosh council makes appointments West Wawanosh council passed a by-law at its meeting of Decem ber 3 appointing Bill Burkholder as the Deputy-Chief of the Bly th and District Volunteer Fire Department. Former Deputy-Reeve Rhea Hamilton-Seeger will remain as the township's representative on the North Huron Development Steering Committee. Council instructed the road superintendent to investigate the price of a door for the storage area in the new shed addition and to have it manufactured and installed in the new year. The road superintendent was instructed to hire at his discretion, capable part-time help to assist in time of emergency, such as illness or absence of regular employees during the winter. Council voted unanimously to hire hunters and trappers, approved by both the landowners and coun cil, to remove beavers at a cost of $25 per animal, to a maximum of 50, beginning December 1, 1991. Also, landowners are to check their wetlands and report any beaver problems to council three times a year, with non-resident landowners having a representative report on their behalf. The road accounts totalling $57,054.81 were approved for pay ment. The collection of taxes in 1992 will be in two payments with due dates to be June 25 for 60 percent and November 25 for the remain der. The general accounts in the amount of $180,233 were approved for payment. At the December 12 meeting council voted that they not be included and covered under the Huron County-Wide Employee Benefit Plan unless each councillor pays for his own coverage. It was decided that the use of graded lumber will not be mandato ry to obtain a building permit for farm buildings unless the use of ungraded lumber contradicts provincial code and precludes obtaining government grants. The general accounts totalling $1,555.80 were approved for pay ment. Farm safety kits now available In association with their theme, “Junior Farmers Care for You in ’91-’92”, the Huron County Junior Farmers will be distributing Farm Safety Kits free of charge to local farms and businesses. This project is being undertaken in co-operation with the Farm & Home Safety Association and the help of the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture & Food. The kits contain signs and decals indicating chemical storage loca tions. “No Riders”, “Warning: Deadly Gases”, “No Smoking”, etc. plus other safety information. The kits are available through members of the Huron County Junior Farm ers or by contacting Deb Craig, 523-9318 or Sandra Regele, 527- 0715. THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 8,1992. PAGE 11. Gibson Hullett's rep on Ausable-Bayfield Joe Gibson was appointed by Hullett council at its December 17 meeting as the joint representative for Hullett, McKillop Township and Seaforth to the Ausauble Bay- field Conservation Authority for 1992. A total of $804.93 in taxes was written off as uncollectible. Larry Plaetzer attended to express concerns on his final assessment of the Sturdy Drainage Works repair and improvement, due to the Ministry of Natural Resources requirements and the enforcement of the Federal Fish eries Act. Council accepted the request for drainage repair and improvement from K. Empey. They request the work be incorporated into the report being prepared under the petition of R. Daer, by the firm of R.J. Burnside & Associates, appointed by motion of council at the October 22 meeting. Authorization was given to write off municipal drain assessments totalling $4.84. These amounts are less than the minimum collectible according to township policy. Council also authorized the write off of municipal drain assessment in the amount of $26.58 as property is municipally owned. The accounts totalling $367,503.01 were approved for payment.
