Following the secretary's and treasurer's reports, Mrs. Janisa Coultes reported on The Upper Room and Mrs. Edith Vincent named a tentative committee for the January meeting. Mrs. Sara Anderson was in charge of the worship service open ing with the hymn “My Country ‘tis of Thee”, read Psalm 46 and prayer. The children now go to school on Remembrance Day which will make it more meaning ful for them, not just another day to have a holiday. After the hymn “Let There be Peace”, Mrs. Alice Scott continued the Bible Study of Matthew and read verses 6: 22-23. The eye is the window of the whole body, if it is clean, the whole body shall be full of light and if unclean the whole body shall be full of darkness. Mrs. Kaye Roberts continued from the Special Mandate 1990, “Women's Work, The Global Pic ture and Women's Work in Asia”. In many cultures around the world there is discrimination against women. Women are regarded as minors subservient to the male head of the household. A survey of Asia and the Pacific non-agricultur- al jobs between 45 per cent to 80 per cent are men's wages and simi larly in manufacturing where women earn 42.5 per cent and 48.5 per cent of men's earnings.
