THESE HONDA
SNOWTHROWERS
WONT GIVE YOU
THE GEARS.
Our newest models are both equipped with our
revolutionary gearless Hydrostatic Transmission.
That means you can change speeds, without
stopping, to suit any snow condition. Of course,
all our snowthrowers feature Hondas tough, fuel
efficient 4-stroke engine that'll pull you through
the roughest winters.
But. you better act quickly and beat a path to
our door. Before you need to clear a path to yours.
Just dessert
The grade seven class at Hullett Central Public School got its just desserts after being the top
class in magazine sales for school fundraising — a gigantic sundae. Here students Sharon
Baechler, Kim Jamieson and Caroline Dyck scoop up the ice cream.
Dawn Dolmage's family dug up
an interesting animal in their gar
den, and Dawn brought it to school.
It is six centimetres long, reddish
brown in colour and has no arms or
legs. It is just about the size of Mr.
Park's thumb, and its pointy end is
quite wiggly. We are looking in
library books to find a picture that
looks like it.
Dawn also phoned Mr. Stewart,
our Science Co-ordinator at the
Learning Resources Centre, and he
is coming to help us identify it. Mr.
Stewart will also discuss what we
should do with this animal.
SCARY STORIES
Mrs. Radford purchased a new
Scary Stories Book by Alvin
Schwartz. The class listened quietly
as the stories were read and then
they had a chance to retell some of
their favourite scary stories. It
made a fun way of doing language
arts. Thank you for your co-opera
tion.
GRADE 4/5
MR. GRIFFIN AND
MRS. LAURIE
by Samantha Funston
Grade 4/5 have been busy mak
ing uglies for Open House. They
also helped decorate the front
office and their room. They made
some spooky creatures that were
judged on Thursday, October 31.
Everybody brought in cereal boxes
and they cut them in fours and
made spelling tests and did math
using them. They also made goals
of what they want to achieve before
the next report card. These goals
were written down on some pink
clouds taped on our desks. In gym
they have been learning how to
bump and serve for volleyball. In
music they listened to a spooky
story, then they listened to a poem
and had to answer 15 questions.
We are also trying to read as many
Halloween stories as we can.
GRADE 7/MISS MORGAN
by Brent Thomas and
Adam Cook
Starting this week Miss Morgan
came down with laryngitis. The
grade was disappointed that she
was gone.
On the week of Halloween the
grade 7 class started spooky grue
some poems. They got their ideas
from a book called ABC of Hal
loween. The book was written by
Eve Marriam. One of the poems is
called -
PET
A pet to pat,
A pal of a pet,
A pet the family won't forget
A pet that pants and drools and
yaps and leaves a little spot in
laps,
A pet that's not the least bit
vicious,
Yet finds the neighbours quite
nutritious.
The grade 7 class dressed up to
help participate in the Halloween
dance and parade.
GRADE 8/MR. MEDD
by Kim Elliott
Mr. Medd's grade 8 students
were all getting ready for Hal
loween. Their monster that every
one helped make out of nylons,
won first prize against the grade 7s.
There was also a dance for the stu
dents and they all dressed up into
weird looking costumes. There
were prizes for the costumes as
well.
HALLOWEEN
Hullett Central P.S. had a fun
Halloween. In the morning the Stu
dents' Council put on a Scavenger
Hunt, Haunted House, and Mrs.
Pletch, Mr. Shaw and Mr. Park put
on storytelling in the library.
Grades K-3 were in these activities.
At 1:45 p.m. the Students' Coun
cil also put on a dance. There they
judged the classes for their cos
tumes. The winners were: for grade
4, scariest was Joel Arthur; funniest
was Becky Archambault; home
made was Te-anna Cressman; and
most original was Joyce Beacom.
The winners from grade 5 in that
order were: Alisha Postma, Pamela
Morrison, Aaron Irving and Katie
Snell.
Grade 6 winners were Jeff John
ston, Theresa Oliver, Joey Airdrie
and Shannon Scott.
Grade 7 winners were Stephen
Berry, Steven Stewart, Erica Hor-
banuik and Karen Trick.
Grade 8 winners were David
Campbell, Mike Salverda, Sarah
Christie, and Elly Wilts.
After the dance we had a parade
for all the classes in the gym.
OPEN HOUSE AND
FITNESS FAIR
On October 24 Hullett Central
School held its Open House and
Fitness Fair from 6 to 9 p.m. Mr.
Griffin, Mrs. Laurie, Miss Morgan,
Mr. Park and Mr. Jewitt were on
the Fitness Fair Committee. They
would like to thank all the
exhibitors who demonstrated their
services at the Fitness Fair as well
as the students in every class who
contributed in some way.
Students had a Passport to Fit
ness booklet and had a page
punched or stamped at each station
they visited. Then the passports
became draw tickets. On Monday,
the draw was held. Alisha Postmi',
Dawn Dolmage, Christine Lapp
and Graham Worsell won Hullett
T-shirts. Maeghan Cook and Adam
Cook won Hullett playing cards.
Donny Gredanius, Nathaniel Peel,
Cheryl Lapp and Peter Postma won
Hullett pens. Congratulations!
Mr. Shaw brought a skipping
team demonstration into the Fitness
Fair, too.
