The Citizen, 1991-11-06, Page 25JAMES 'CLIFFORD' SAUNDERCOCK James "Clifford" Saundercock of Londesborough, died at Clinton Public Hospital Saturday, Nov. 2, 1991 at age 69. He was born Feb. 24, 1922 in Hullett township, the son of the late Herman Saundercock and Laura Shobbrook, who is a resident of Huronview. He married Kathleen Kirkwood on Nov. 6, 1945 at Beverley, Eng­ land. The couple has two children, John Saundercock and his wife Linda and Lynn and her husband Wayne Peck of London. Mr. Saundercock was a store­ keeper in Londesborough for many years. He was a member of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 140, Clinton and was Past Master of Hullett Lodge, A.F. & A.M., No. 568, Londesborough. He is survived by a brother Robert and his wife Patricia, of Clinton and three grandchildren: Kelly and Christopher Peck and Lisa Saundercock. He was prede­ ceased by one nephew, Michael Saundercock. Friends were received at the "Ball Chapel" of the Beattie-Fal­ coner Funeral Homes, Clinton where the funeral will be held today, Wednesday, Nov. 6, 1991 at 1:30 p.m. A service was held by the Clinton Legion on Monday at 9 p.m. and by Hullett Lodge A.F. & A.M. No. 568 on Tuesday at 8:45 p.m. Rev. Paul Ross of Londesbor- ough United Church will officiate at the funeral service. Honourary pallbearers will be Arthur Colson and Stewart Knipe. Active pall­ bearers are Tom Allen, Glen Carter, Jack Lee, Watson Reid and Ken Thompson. Flowerbearers are James McEwing and Gordon Shob­ brook. Interment will be in Blyth Union Cemetery. LEO J. CRONYN Leo J. Cronyn of Wellington St., Blyth, died Oct. 30, 1991 at Clinton Public Hospital. He was 91 years of age. He was born in Morris Town­ ship, the son of the late Arthur and Margaret Cronyn. He married the former Aileen M. Carbert and the couple farmed in Morris Township before moving to Blyth. He was a member of St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church, Blyth. He is survived by one son John, and his wife Yvonne, R.R.2, Blyth and three grandchildren, Margaret, Michael and Marie Cronyn. Also surviving is one sister, Monica Thompson of Detroit. Friends visited at the Tasker Chapel of the Beattie-Falconer Funeral Homes, in Blyth. The funeral was held from St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church on Nov. 1 at 11 a.m. with Father Ray Renaud officiating. Interment was in St. Michael's Cemetery. Brussels students sell cheese by Mike Seeds and Stefan Nichol Over the past three weeks grades kindergarten to grade eight have paid visits to the Public Library here in town. We asked the super­ visor of the Public Library, Mrs. Nichol, how she felt about the classes that visited her. She said she enjoyed the visits and hopes that the students did too. As you may know, the grade eight class held a class election. The candidates for the position of girl class president are, Kim Mul­ vey and Stacy Hahn. Running for boy class president are Mike Dauphin and Mike Seeds. The posi - tion of special convenor has three candidates: Wendy Thompson, Brent Pepper, and Chris Burk­ holder. The final position of secre­ tary is challenged by Becky David­ son and Teresa Bridge. During the been decorated with posters and banners promoting fun at school. The campaign speeches were held on the morning of October 28 and the elections were held in the after­ noon. The winners are: for girl president, Stacy Hahn and for boy president, Mike Dauphin. The secretary is Becky Davidson and special convenor is Wendy Thomp­ son. For noon hour sports the soccer season just ended. The boys’ soccer champions are the Hurricanes. For the girls, the champs are the Fury. Arm bands will be given to the members of both teams. Coming up in noon hour sports is volleyball. Junior games will begin at 12:15 and Intermediate from 12:35 to 12:55. The grade six/seven students held a fundraising event. Mr. Prior, Janice Jacklin and Josh Beuermann were asked by members of the grade eight class for what reason the fundraiser was held. Here are their answers: They held the fundraiser to help the Children's Christmas Fund and for field trips. They made a total of $1500. The grade six/seven class got their supplies from Sunsweet, a company outside of Toronto. They sold chocolates and paper products. If you want to see what they sold, the products are in the school showcase window. Grade eight begins their annual cheese sales on the fourth of November. The profits from this will help pay the cost of the grade eight's trip to see “Phan­ tom of the Opera” in Toronto.
