Morris calls for snowplow tenders Morris council decided at its meeting of September 23 to adver­ tise for tenders for snow plow equipment for Concession 8, 9. The lenders will be due for October 15. Road Superintendent Lloyd Michie told council that he had been approached by Melinda Hod­ gins of Belgrave, regarding an uneven sidewalk at 27 Queen's St. Mrs. Hodgins says that the side­ walk is causing problems for cars pulling into the driveway as it hits the bottom of the car. Council authorized that the side­ walk be removed as a new one will be installed next year, during the construction of Highway 4. It was noted that wages will be discussed in October and council will meet with the road employees at that time. Mr. Michie advised council that Bodmin Ltd. are no longer taking paper from the waste disposal site. Council were presented with a videc of the Hopcroft report. The report is a review of services form the provincial and municipal gov­ ernments and public need of ser­ vices. The report is reviewing which level of government can best deliver the services required to the public. Council briefly discussed the Tumberry Township investigation of an interim disposal location for waste since the location where their waste is taken, is presently closed. October 10 was set as the date for the ratepayer's meeting. All pro­ posed candidates will be notified of the 8 p.m. meeting. Councillor Deloris Souch attend­ ed the Wheels Away meeting in Wingham in September. She pre­ sented information to council and proposals for grants and for enter­ ing into an agreement were dis­ cussed. Further discussion on this matter will be held at the next meeting it was decided. Building permits were issued to: John Albers, South Part Lot 29, Cone. 2, pig barn; Paul Gowing, North Part Lot 25, Cone. 3, harve- store silo; John Nesbit, North Part Lot 4, Cone. 9, kitchen and bath — house addition; Wayne Fear, South Part Lot 4, Cone. 5, bam addition and Laurie Brubacher, Walton, to enclose porch. The Ministry of the Environment advised council that it did not rec­ ommend the set up of a depot for used oil at the waste disposal site as the Certificate of Compliance for the site would have to be amended. The staff at the site will be noti­ fied of this information. A letter was read from the resi­ dents of Walton, explaining that they felt they were having prob­ lems with police service in the hamlet. Council advised the residents be notified that this is not council's jurisdiction and suggested that con­ sideration be given to having a resi­ dent join the Community Police Service Board. In additional business council were advised that the meeting with the Wingham, Blyth and Brussels fire chiefs will be held on October 16. Street signs will be ordered for Bluevale and Walton streets located in Morris. Council reviewed the agreement from Grey Township for a pop sup­ plier for the Brussels, Morris and Grey Community Centre. The agreement was sent back with no comments, as council felt that the agreement is between the board and Brussels. Betty Graber of Brussels was appointed as the township represen­ tative to the North Huron Commu­ nity Development Area Board. Council requested that Mrs. Graber be asked if she plans to be a rep from Morris since the county listing noted she was attending meetings as a rep for Brussels. Every fall, representatives from each of Ontario's 17 degree grant­ ing institutions including Ryerson and the Royal Military College, participate in the UIP. It is a provincewide, collective effort by the universities to provide informa­ tion to future students. The UIP is a good opportunity for both parents and students to get an overview of academic programs, admission requirements, costs, financial assis­ tance, athletic and cultural opportu­ nities.
