Obituaries ANNE (MCFARLANE) "PAT" TAYLOR Anne "Pat" Taylor of RR3, Wal­ ton passed away at Clinton Public Hospital on September 23, 1991. A daughter of John and Isabella McFarlane, she was bom 87 years ago in Stanley township. Following her graduation as a registered nurse in 1927, Mrs. Taylor worked in hospitals in Toronto, New York and Wingham. She was predeceased by her hus­ band, Kenneth Middleton Taylor, whom she married in Stanley town­ ship in 1931. Mrs. Taylor was an active mem­ ber of Trinity Anglican Church in Blyth. She was a member and Past President of the Women's Institute and was involved with the 4H clubs and the Geneology Society. Mourning her passing are her children: Boyd and Muriel Taylor of Morris Township, Mac and Jane Taylor of Dawson Creek, B.C. and Claire Taylor of Saltspring, B.C. She will be lovingly remembered by her brother, John McFarlane of Holmesville. Mrs. Taylor was the dear grandmother of James Taylor, Nancy Snell, and Graham, Anne and Adam Taylor. She was the beloved great-grandmother of Jamie, Ashley, Jeanna and Andrew Taylor and Matthew and Laura Snell. Besides her husband, Mrs. Taylor was predeceased by her brothers James and Malcolm McFarlane. Friends were received at the Beattie-Falconer Funeral Home "Tasker Chapel" in Blyth. Rev. Paul Acton officiated at the funeral services, which were held at 2 p.m. on September 26 at Trinity Angli­ can Church. Pallbearers were: Claire Taylor, Ted Middleton, John and Jim Tay­ lor, Peter DeVries and Arie Ver- hoef. Carrying floral tributes were Nancy Snell, and Jamie and Ashley Taylor. Interment was held at Blyth Union Cemetery. MARLENE ANNE YUILL A long-time resident of Brussels, Marlene Anne Yuill, passed away at Wingham and District Hospital on Tuesday, September 24, 1991 after a lengthy struggle with cancer. She was 45. Marlene was a well-known com­ munity figure, having lived all of her life in the village or just outside it in Morris township. Her parents are the late Glenn and Isobel Smith. Marlene received her education at SS#4, in Morris and F.E. Madill Secondary School. As a young woman she competed for and won the title of Brussels' Centennial Queen in 1967. Three years later on June 27, she was married to Jim Yuill at St. John's Anglican Church by Rev. Keith Stokes. Following their marriage they moved to their home on Alexander St. Besides being a housewife and mother to sons Glenn and Gary, Marlene was employed for a time as a clerk and buyer for Oldfield's Hardware and as a part time hair­ dresser. Several years ago, she began driving a school bus for Brussels Public School, the same bus driven by her father before her. It was a love they both shared and Marlene found tremendous enjoy­ ment in the work. Along with her husband, Marlene was an active member of the Brus­ sels Public School Home and School for many years. Her outside interests were mini­ mal. She devoted most of her time to her job, her family and to her hobby of horses, another passion she shared with her father. Besides her husband and sons, Marlene will be mourned by her sister, Juanita, and Doug, her moth­ er-in-law, Florence Yuill and her grandmother Annie Thynne, all of Brussels. She will be sadly missed by several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. A private family service was held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 27 from Betts Funeral Home in Brus- seis. Rev. Paul Acton and Rev. Keith Slokes officiated at the ser­ vice. Interment followed at Brussels Cemetery. Donations were made to Wing ham and District Hospital or St. John's Anglican Church as expres­ sions of sympathy. BRUCE CHAMBERS Bruce Chambers died on Septem­ ber 21, 1991 at Wingham and Dis­ trict Hospital. Mr. Chambers was born on March 14, 1923 in Howick Town­ ship. He married the former Audrey Wade of Wroxeter in 1948. The couple resided in Molesworth and Mr. Chambers operated a trucking business for many years. They moved to Wroxeter in 1952, where as a plumber and elec­ trician, he owned and operated Chambers Hardware for 32 years. Mr. Chambers was keenly inter­ ested in community affairs and served as a village chairman for 25 years. He was a member of the Wroxeter United Church and served as a trustee and former elder. He joined the Masonic Order in Listowel in the latter part of the 1940's and transferred to Wroxeter in 1952, where he was Master in 1963-64. Besides his wife, he leaves three children and their spouses to mourn him: Leone and Gordon Kaster, Garry and Karen Chambers, Lynne and Dale Hunt. He will be lovingly remembered by his five grandchil­ dren and one great granddaughter, all of Wroxeter. Mr. Chambers was the dear brother of Jessie and her husband Gordon Adam of Listowel and Roy and his wife Helen of Toronto. He is survived as well by several nieces and nephews. A Forest Lodge #162 Masonic memorial service was held at 9 p.m. on September 24. Rev. Jeff Hawkins officiated at the funeral services on Wednesday, September 25 at Betts Funeral Home in Gorrie. Carrying Mr. Chambers to his fmal resting place at Wroxeter Cemetery were: Bob Brown, Jim Dunbar, John Gibson., Hugh Jarvis, Bruce Montgomery and Cecil Yeoman. Honourary pall­ bearers were: Harvey Bradshaw, Dick deBoer, Bill deVos, Fred Lewis, Glenn McMichael and Wendell Stamper. Flowerbearers were Angela, Trevor and Scott Chambers. EBBETT “EBB” ROSS Ebbett Muir “Ebb” Ross of Goderich died in Alexandra Marine and General Hospital on Friday, September 13, 1991. He was 80. He was a realtor with W. J. Hughes Real Estate. He was a member of Knox Pres­ byterian Church. He served on the Board of Managers and as treasurer of Knox Church for many years. He was a life member and past president of Goderich Lions Club, a charter member of the Harbouraires and a member of Maitland Lodge No. 33 A.F. and A.M. Mr. Ross was born in Cypress River, Manitoba on October 27, 1910. His parents were Arthur Clif­ ford Ross and Betsy Levina Hed­ dle. He was predecased by his wife Marjorie Esther Bainton, who died in 1955. He is survived by his son, Gary and his wife Rita of Goderich. He is also survived by one brother, William W. Ross of Goderich. He was the dear grandfather of Stephen, of Toronto; Lisa and her husband Doug Sears of London; and great-granddaughter, Kailee. He was predeceased by his grand­ son, Dwayne Ross and brothers George and James Ross. A funeral service was held at Knox Presbyterian Church on Mon­ day, September 16, 1991. Memorial services were held at McCallum and Palla Funeral Home Sunday evening by Maitland Lodge No. 33, A.F. and A.M., and Goderich Lions Club. Rev. D. R. Nicholson of Knox Presbyterian Church officiated. Honorary pallbearers were Harold Bettger and Sam Wain. Pallbearers were Stephen Ross, Doug Sears, John Ross, Fred Hed­ dle, George Parsons and Jim Coul­ ter. Interment Maitland Cemetery. TIMOTHY DAVID BEARSS Timothy David Bearss of Mid­ land and formerly of Blyth, died Sept. 19, 1991. He was 29 years of age. He was born in London and moved to Blyth with his family when they relocated to operate a business in Blyth. He was in the construction business. He was a member of Blyth United Church. He is survived by his wife, the former Lori Rau and one son, Bran­ don. Also surviving are his parents, William and Bonnie Bearss, R.R.l, Auburn. Also surviving are four brothers and two sisters: Steven and Frances Bearss, Blyth; Mark and Keatha Bearss, Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia; Lance and Melanie Bearss, Blyth; Deanna and Brad Ducharme, London; Bill Bearss, London and Tamara Bearss, Lon­ don. The funeral service was held Sat­ urday, Sept. 28 from the Tasker Chapel of the Beattie-Falconer Funeral Homes, Blyth with Rev. Lorenzo Ramirez of Blyth United Church officiating. Interment was in Blyth Union Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Steven, Mark, Lance, and Bill Bearss, Brad Ducharme and Mike McLeod. GERTRUDE (ELLIOTT) WETTLAUFER Gertrude Wettlaufer died sudden­ ly in Vancouver, British Columbia on Wednesday, September 18, 1991, in her 79th year. She was the daughter of the late J.H.R. Elliott and Ada (Boyd) Elliott of Blyth. She was prede­ ceased by dear husband Lloyd (1990). Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by daughter Rhonda Wettlaufer and son-in-law Miles Simons of Vancouver.
