WI donates to ag. in classroom The Majestic WI is working to promote Agriculture in the Class­ room by donating an educational game called Agri-Venture and two toy tractors to the Brussels Public School. Leona Armstrong, WI President, said when she met with Principal Dave Kemp, he was very receptive to any ideas that would enhance their program of Agriculture in the Classroom. WI are hoping the game will encourage children to become aware of where the food they are eating comes from, help students gain a greater understanding and appreciation of the importance of agriculture on the Canadian econo­ my, develop a positive attitude about agriculture and learn about changes in the agriculture industry, develop a respect for living things, develop a concern and care for the environment, investigate plant and animal products including fish, fruit, vegetables, grain, beef and dairy products, become aware of agricultural machinery, investigate AfVCA thanks farmers for taking part in survey The Maitland Valley Conserva­ tion Authority (MVCA) would like to thank the farmers who took the time to participate in the Agricul­ tural Land Management Survey this past summer. Staff at the MVCA interviewed a total of 360 farmers about the various practices in use on their farms. The information collected will enable the Conservation Authority to evaluate the success of its cur­ rent soil and water conservation extension service, and assist in the design of future activities that will be of greatest benefit to the farmer. The information from the survey will also be used to develop a data base so that general trends in land management practices can be stud­ ied. Finally, the information in the survey will help the MVCA design educational materials to promote soil, and wetland conservation. In recognition of this the Huron County Junior Farmers are hosting an Agri-Food Week Dinner entitled "Huron County: An Agri­ cultural Leader V". "Huron County: An Agricultural Leader V" is a celebration of agri­ culture and the rural community in Huron County. Speakers for the evening will be Bob Humphries, Agricultural Representative O.M.A.F. and Suzanne Leitch, Vice-Chairperson Agri-Food Edu­ cational Trust discussing Agricul­ ture in the classroom.
