Aux. starts busy year President Leona Towton wel comed everyone to the September meeting of the Clinton Public Hos pital Auxiliary, asking for enthusi astic support in increased Auxiliary participation in fundraising and improved patient services. She asked members to get off to a good start by putting their efforts into the annual penny sale, which starts on September 17. She report ed that the Auxiliary is doing well according to a recent accreditation survey of volunteer services. An item brought forward to the meeting for consideration was the use of a plain stuffed cotton doll without facial features or other markings. This doll can be present ed to children entering hospital for surgery or other treatments. Crayons are then used by the child to draw a face and other markings, which show the surgery being done to the child, and in this way, the child has a friend to keep it com pany while in a strange place. Fur ther research will be done on this program. Final plans for the fall confer ence, to be held at Ontario Street United Church on Monday, September 23, were completed. The guest speaker is Peggy Men zies, provincial president, and a variety of workshops will be pre sented. It was noted that the Auxiliary membership now has 70 paid mem bers. The new business discussed included: palliative care, a program in some hospitals; the production of a recipe book, as a fall fundraiser; the fall HAAO convention in Toronto; and the photo contest of Auxiliaries in Action, shown in a color photograph. Members are asked to bring two favorite recipes to the next meeting on October 7, at 10 a.m. at Clinton Public Hospital. SPRING BULBS ARE HERE TULIPS - DAFFODILS ETC.
