Making repairs, sermon topic Greeter at Londesboro United Church on Sunday, September 15 was Ken Hunking. Ushers were Kevin Wright, Murray Whyte, Melvin Bergsma, and Steven Duiz- UCW plans bazaar Bums U.C.W. met at the Londes­ boro United Church on Wednes­ day, September 4 with 12 members present. Gay Salverda opened the meeting with a reading “What to Count”. A hymn was sung accompanied by Ida Leiper on the piano. Ida Salver­ da, Gladys Leiper and Renee Snell took part in the scripture reading of Psalm 23. Ida Leiper led in prayer. Margaret Taylor gave interesting readings from a book by Robert Fulchum. A reading was given by Ramona Jamieson: “The man who thinks he can.” Gay closed with prayer and a hymn and thanked all who took part. Renee Snell conducted the busi­ ness and gave a reading “Do we add or subtract”. Roll call was answered with a Bible verse and minutes of the last meeting were read. The treasurer's report was given by Margaret Taylor. Plans were made for the Bazaar and Tea, October 17. Get well cards were sign for Clara Riley and Olwen Wood. The meeting closed with prayer. er. The guest speaker was Micheline Montrevil of Goderich. Her sermon topic was “Making Repairs”. The choir anthem was “Singing the Kingdom”. Huronview Fellowship will be on September 19 at 1:15 p.m. Senior Youth Group will meet Wednes­ day, September 18 from 8-10 p.m. at Paul's. There will be a ball game and camp fire. Bring a drink and something to cook over the fire. This program is for all high school teens. Session Stewards and the official board will meet on Monday, September 23 at 8 p.m. The U.C.W. Fall Rally will be held in the Church on October 21. A spe­ cial meeting will be held Thursday, Sept. 19 at 8 p.m. in the Sunday School room to get new Sunday School teachers. Toastmasters to form club An organizational meeting for a new Toastmasters Club in Listowel will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, September 26, at the Listowel Mcn- nonite Church, 465 Maitland Ave. South, Listowel. Toastmasters International is a non-profit educational organization which helps men and women develop skills in communication and leadership. The Listowel Club will join 109 others in Toastmasters District 60 which includes most of Ontario. There are more than 7,000 clubs in 50 countries throughout the world. The organizational meeting will be presented by members of the Maitland Motivators Toastmaster Club of Brussels and the Elmira Town Criers Toastmasters, Elmira, as well as clubs in the K. W. and London areas, according to Allan Dettweiler, President of the Brus­ sels club. “Toastmasters is a terrific way to gain valuable skills and have fun at the same time,” Dettweiler said, “And the cost of membership is minimal.” All interested persons are wel­ come to attend the organizational meeting. Mari­ on Godkin gave a thorough report of the executive meeting she had attended at the Bluevale Hall. An invitation was read from the Seaforth W.I. to attend its evening meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 8 at 8 p.m. It is hoped 5-6 people will attend. Members met at Bob and Betty Battye's home on the baseline for a tour of the log cabin and antiques. They relumed to the Londesboro Hall for their meeting. President Lois Elliott conducted the meeting. Roll call was answered by “What impressed you most on your tour?” Helen Lawson read the minutes of the June and July meetings. They were approved as read. Corre­ spondence was read including an invitation to the Seaforth W.I. meeting at 8 p.m. at the Orange Hall on Tuesday, October 8. A thank you was read from Annie Vincent. The 40th Institute Rally is at Seaforth Presbyterian Church on Monday, October 7. Fall courses are Tuesday, October 29 at Ontario Street United Church. Register by October 18. It was decided to cater to Lon­ desboro Lions Club meetings. It was moved to pay Helen Lawson's Historical Society fees. Collection and pennies were taken up. The Queen and Grace were sung. Lunch was served by Beryl Reid, Hazel Reid and Dora Shobbrook.
