The regular meeting of the Evening Unit of Knox United Church, Belgrave, was held Tues­ day evening, September 3 at the home of Mrs. Freda Johnston with Couple wins prizes for quarter horses Cindy and Grant Vincent of RR 5, Wingham have been successful in winning a number of prizes at horse shows recently with their Quarter Horses. In the “Area Two Quarter Horse Association Futurity” held in Cam­ bridge on August 31, their wean­ ling colt placed second in the Sired Stakes Class and fifth in the open class. Their yearling gelding placed first in both the Sired Stakes and the open halier classes. Besides the prize money for this class they also received a blanket and a bag of 23 present. President, Mrs. Wilma Higgins welcomed everyone and thanked Freda for offering her home and read a poem entitled Farm Memories. feed. At this same show the yearly gelding and weanling filly showed together to win the “Produce of Dam” class. On September first, at the “Mid­ Western Ontario Horseman's Soci­ ety All Bred Futurity”, held in London their weanling filly placed fifth in the Sired Stakes classes. At the “All Ontario Quarter Horse Breeders Futurity” held in Waterford on September 7, their yearling gelding as well as their weanling filly placed sixth overall, while their weanling colt placed ninth overall. Mrs. Ruth Johnston and Mrs. Laura Johnston lead the worship service. Making decisions was their theme. Hymns 263 and 445 were sung. Hebrews 11, verses 1-11 were read which dealt with “Our Faith in what we cannot see”. The meditation cited examples of our procrastination in Acts of Faith. The offering was received and dedicated. The roll call for October is to be a Bible verse containing the word “Thanks”. Mrs. Mildred Yuill introduced her niece Mrs. Doris Rodges, a nurse at the Alexandra Marine and General Hospital, Goderich. She explained the work of a nurse in the various departments of a small town hospital: obstetrics, pedi­ atrics, emergency, intensive care, medical and long term patient care. She closed her talk by referring to nursing as a Ministry of Healing. Mizpah benediction was repeat­ ed.
