Blyth Council briefs Cleaning firm hired to oversee Hall A firm that has been looking after cleaning of Memorial Hall for the Blyth Festival season has been contracted to carry on its work dur ing the winter. Homebright, which has been working for the Festival which pays for cleaning of the hall in the summer months, will continue to clean the building and set up for meetings during the winter months using two people to do the job. "I feel it would benefit (the vil lage) to have two people cleaning," said Councillor Shirley Fyfe, chair person of the Memorial Hall Board. During the winter the village office will be in charge of booking the facility, she explained. The cost, $255 plus GST per week, is higher than in the past but council felt the benefits were worth the extra.♦** Following a closed session before the regular meeting to con sider personnel matters, Council approved a motion to hire Bill Bromley full-time as PUC foreman following completion of his proba tionary term.**♦ Councillors were not pleased with the tone of a letter from Don McCaffrey, chairman of the Blyth Festival's building committee to Cliff Mann of Cliffs Plumbing and Heating who installed the heating and cooling system in Memorial Hall. Council had asked the Festi val to talk to Mr. Mann after the Festival had brought in another firm to look at problems with the system. Mr. Mann, in a letter of reply, had said that all his work had been guaranteed and he would have been prepared to deal with any problems if he had been properly informed. Councillor Steven Sparling said that the letter from Mr. McCaffrey "isn’t the thrust of what we said." Reeve Albert Wasson added that the problems were "somewhat between them but it somewhat reflects on us".**♦ Council approved the selling of "Nevada" tickets by the Canadian Quality Proven F Results We Deliver Over 2200 Homes Citizen “The People Paper” Mental Health Association at the Village Restaurant. Following its policy set earlier after complaints from other groups in the village, council will forego its licence fee. 7Z SCRIMGEOUR’S FOOD MARKET BLYTH 523-4551 Values In Effect From Mon., Sept. 2,1991 Until Closing Sat.
