PAGE 13. 6 area riders to compete in weekend moto-cross race The veteran Canadian national champ in the 40 plus class, Chris Lee of RR3, Walton, takes a practice run on the track that will be used this Sunday for the provincial motosport championship. Several area people will be com peting in this weekend's moto-cross event at Chris and Judy Lee's out side Walton. Chris, himself, will be riding in the 40 plus class, while his sons Brett, 16, and Matt, 15, will be rac ing in the 125 Intermediate and 80 A competitions respectively. Brett entered the competitive track in late 1988 and in Edmonton, this past summer, he placed in the top seven, at the National race. This qualified him to participate in the U.S. Nationals Amateur race in Tennessee last week. Matt has just begun racing this year. Also taking part in the racing event are siblings, Rob and Paul McIntosh. Though Rob, 30, of Walton, has been riding dirt bikes for the past decade, he hasn't raced in the past six years. In preparation for his return to the race track he has been running a few endurance runs recently and is looking for ward to competing this weekend. He will be riding in the 125 A divi sion. His brother Paul, 16, of RR5, Brussels, has just one or two races under his belt as this is his first sea son of racing. He competes in the 125 Novice class. Rob, who has always liked the thrill of competitive motorized sports, says he and his brother used to run practice tracks at their dad's. "We used to go out and ride with our friends, so I guess you could say we grew up enjoying this type of sport." Eighteen-year-old Mike Cronyn of RR2, Blyth was bitten by the dirt bike bug about four years ago. "I had a three-wheeler, then got a bike. I started ripping around on it-a group of us would go to Kelly's Hill-and saw a few races and things just went from there," he said. Mike began racing three years ago enjoying moderate success, usually finishing in the top 10. He now competes in the 125 Junior class. "Il's fun," he says. "Everyone else plays ball or something during the ¥ )u can lose a lot more than your licence drinking and driving. Welcome Riders! While in the area be sure to visit us for the BEST IN HOME BAKING...
