The Citizen, 1991-08-14, Page 3Blyth. People Lyle Smith of Sault Ste. Marie, drove down to Blyth to pick up his father Charlie recently. The two then drove to Tobermory and went across Georgian Bay on the Chee Chee Mon to Manitoulin Island, then on to Sault Ste. Marie. There they celebrated Lyle and Arlene Smith's 50th wedding anniversary August 3. Margery Smith from Kitchener and her friend were also present. Charlie Smith will celebrate his 90th birthday Aug. 17 at Blyth United Church. Donations Anne Juhasz of Chicago, donated this bench and a coat rack to Blyth Centre for the Arts in honour of her mother Edythe Phillips, who lived in Blyth for 30 years, was active in various community events and had a keen interest in arts, music and drama. A World War I bride, Mrs. Phillips was, her daughter said, a dynamic woman ahead of her time, who managed to combine involvement in worthwhile activities with raising eight children. She has two daughters still living in the area, Shirley Vincent and Doreen Wilson. The bench and coat rack were designed by Bill Wallace of Wroxeter.
