Huron County Engineer County of Huron Court House Goderich, Ontario N7A 1 M2 YOUR FORESTS, YOUR CAS head disputes county's figures Continued from page 1. were $8.20 while Middlesex was $4.74, Samia-Lambton, $4.17 and Bruce, $4.15. But Mr. Knight argued it was like trying to compare apples and oranges to compare the figures. In Huron, the entire municipal share of the CAS budget (20 per cent of total costs) is picked up by the county where in other places it is split between the county and cities or separated towns. In Perth the cost is divided between the county, the city of Stratford and the town of St. Marys, for instance. Therefore, while Mr. Mickle pointed out a $4.76 cost for Middlesex county, the total per capita cost for London- Middlesex is $9.04, well above Huron's. In other areas such as Samia- Lambton and Bruce where there are Native Reserves, federal funding comes in to distort the funding pic ture. Using these figures, Mr. Knight claimed the per capita cost for Bruce was $6.17 while Samia- Lambton was $5.79. Mr. Knight also produced figures showing Huron under the average for costs on a per capita child basis. The provincial average is $165.02 while Huron’s cost per capita child (total cost split by the total popula tion of children in the county) is $142.48. Norfolk county, which Mr. Knight says most closely resembles Huron by population and service statistics, spends $143.20 per child of population. Perth spends $122.73; Samia-Lambton, $107.18; Bruce, $109.37 and London-Mid dlesex, $188.16. COUNTY OF HURON HIGHWAYS DEPARTMENT SEALED TENDERS and QUOTA TION for the following will be accepted until 12 noon on Wednesday, September 18, 1991.
