This coming weekend marks the
20th year of the Brussels Invita

Ontario. Teams are coming from
Cambridge, Kitchener, Camlachie
and Ingersoll as well as local teams
from Brussels, Mitchell, Seaforth,
Blyth, Belmore, Walton and
Scbringville.
In honour of its 20th year, the
tournament committee has decided

win, a bonus of a $20 bill. The total
prize money up for grabs come to
$2,050.
The tournament started back in
1971 with the Recreation Commit
tee of Brussels sponsoring the
event. Taking home the top prize in
1971 was the Stratford Memorials
Ball Club. The 1972 tourney was
won by the Wellesley Queens with
the Fullarton Jrs. taking the “B”
Crown. 1973 brought a local
flavour to the tournament when the
best known team from Brussels,
Ritchie's Rockets, took the B cham
pionship since then but this year the
Tigers having a record of 13-4-1 in
the Huron County Fastball League
are legitimate contenders. It's
hoped the boys of Brussels can join
the likes of Bryonston, Fullarton,
Arva and the Wingham B.P.'s pro
vide the entertaining fastball that
those teams provided in their days
of glory on the ball field.
The tournament starts August 2
at 7:30 p.m. with the tournament
wrapping up on Monday, August 5
with the Consolation Champi
onship game at 5 p.m. followed by
the “A” Championship at 6:30 p.m.
Admission at the gates is $3/day or
$5 for a weekend pass. The tourna
ment is sponsored by the Brussels
Tigers Fastball Club and the Brus
sels Optimist Club so the money all
goes back into the community.

Double Up On Your Fibre
If you’re like most Canadians,
you’re not getting enough fibre
each day. It’s estimated that most
people need twice as much as
they’re getting now. That amounts
to about 25 to 30
grams of fibre each
day. It sounds like a
lot of fibre, but it’s not
hard to get if you
choose the right
foods.
