At the general meeting of December 1961 it was passed that a new hall be buitt. As the tornfbr town hall site was now vacant, it was decided to approach the Village Council to see if it was possible to purchase this site. At the next council meeting this was done and the lot was donated to the branch for the sum of $1.00 with a stipulation that an auditorium be placed in the building for rental to local organizations for meetings, dances etc, Excavation was begun and footing poured in November 1963, but due to the winter closing in, no more work was done until the spring of 1964. The new building was occupied in February 1965. It is estimated that the building plus interior fixtures will run in the neighbourhood of $60,000.00 and it may be noted at this time, contrary to the public belief there are no grants given for this type of project, either from Government Agencies or the various Legion Commands. The officers, committees and members of the branch are to be congratulated for the effort put forward to raise funds and erect this fine building, which is not only an asset to the branch but to the Village as well.
