Phone 523-4360 WI cancels bus trip Due to lack of interest, the Lon­ desboro Women's Institute will not be taking a bus to Quilt Fest at Mil­ ton on August 9. There will be no regular Institute meeting in August. The next meet­ ing will be September 11 for an afternoon meeting. Mr. and Mrs. Reg. Lawson and Elizabeth visited with Ted and Church news Greeters at Londesboro United Church were Bob, Sylvia and Karen Trick. Ushers were Bob and Sylvia Trick. The sermon topic was: “A Look Inside an Abused Woman's Day”. Guest speaker was Carolyn Hyde, counsellor of Friendship House in Goderich. About 35 children attended Vacation Bible School which was held from Monday to Friday, July 22 to 26. Hullett seeks PRIDE grant Hullett clerk Bev Shaddick was instructed by council at its July 16 meeting to apply for a 1992/93 PRIDE grant for Londesboro. Council accepted the request for repair, improvement or alteration of the Hallam Drainage Works to include a new closed tile branch at Lot 4, Concession Maitland Block. R. J. Bumside and Associates have been appointed as engineers to act on council's behalf. Mrs. Shaddick was given permis­ sion to attend the sessions of the Associations of Municipal Clerks Treasurers of Ontario Municipal Finance in London on September 25, 26 and 27. Expenses will be paid. Council agreed with the resolu­ tion of Aidborough township requesting a reevaluation of federal and provincial policies for munici­ pal drainage systems or waterways for drainage purposes. The firm of Archibald, Gray & McKay has been asked to survey the property to be purchased from Hugh Millar. Doris Warren at Lion's Head last week. Glen Johnston, wife Dianne and children Megan, Alyssia and Michael of Edmonton visited this past week with his mother and step­ dad, Geraldine and Lome Dale. Congratulations to Karen and Paul Garrow of Exeter on the birth of their son Matthew David Troy on Tuesday, July 23. Karen was the former Karen Johnston of Londes­ boro. People Mrs. Olive McGee of Mason, Michigan spent the weekend with her cousins Edythe Beacom and Laura Lyon. They attended the 80th birthday party for their cousin, Margaret Vipond of Atwood on Sunday. » .5of83 this year. Anna has enrolled al Western University, London, in the nursing program. DARLENE HULLEY Darlene Caroline Hulley, the daughter of Kenneth and Betty Hulley of Londesboro and fiancee of David Pullen of St. Marys graduated on June 14 at Fanshawe College from the Child and Youth Worker pro­ gram. Darlene Is presently employed by the London and Middlesex Children's Aid Soci­ ety and will be attending the University of Western Ontario in the fall to study Art Therapy. A euchre party is being planned for August 5 at 8:30 p.m. hosted by the Ethel Hall Board to raise some renovations funds. Mary Terpstra, 19, is the daugh­ ter of Charles and Catherine Terp­ stra of RR3, Brussels. Prior to attending LDSS, she was a student at St. Patrick's in Dublin. In the fall, Mary will be entering the Uni­ versity of Waterloo in Honours Kinesiology.
