Members of the Seaforth Harmony Kings later took in the performance. The wife and daughter of Bruce Whitmore, one of the Harmony Kings who arranged the concert, are in the play and Mr. Whitmore has seen every performance.______ Swinging Seniors party at beach The Blyth Senior Citizens met at St. Christopher's Beach, Goderich on July 24 at noon and sat down to a sumptuous pot luck dinner. Following the dinner, president John Hesselwood called on Lloyd Walden to lead a sing-song and Harv McDowell accompanied on his mandolin. There were several June and July birthdays so “Happy Birthday” was sung to Les and Shirley Rutledge, Gene and Alvin Snell, Selena Machan, Millar Rich mond, Lloyd Walden, Effie McCall, and Alberta Stevens. The secretary read the minutes and Iso- bel and Bill Craig thanked the soci ety for the sympathy card they had received. John made several announcements. An invitation was received from Spinrite Yarns to tour their establishment and it was decided to go on September 4 at 1 p.m. He also announced a Variety Show to be held at McKay Hall, Goderich August 23 and 24. A nominating committee was set up to bring in the new officers for the coming year: Erma Cook, Phyllis Boak, and Effie McCall. John closed this meeting and turned it over to the games committee. Erma Cook conducted a fun game called Popping Corn and before long we were all hopping and popping around like com in a corn popper. Isobel Craig had a “lemon relay ” this was shoving a lemon with a yard stick. The women won this game. The next one was a Peanut game - attempt ing to drop peanuts off a spoon into a small jar. Feme and Harv McDowell got that one. Alvin and Gene Snell won the balloon game by sending their balloon the far thest. The next one was “How well do you know your husband?” Feme McDowell and Effie McCall proved they knew their husbands the best. “Throwing the frisbee” was won by the relay team of Mil lar Richmond, Lloyd Walden and Feme McDowell. Vera Hessel wood had three guessing games. Alvin Snell guessed the right amount of jelly beans - 79 to be exact. Mary Walden and Phyllis Boak guessed what was in the wrapped parcels. After the games, the picnic ended and everyone reported a good time. THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, JULY 31,1991. PAGE 3. Festival employee gets God.
