Vice Grand Leola Hood presided due to the absence of our Noble Grand Janet McCutcheon, who was ill. The Rebekah picnic has been rescheduled to Wednesday, July 17, 2 p.m. in the Lodge rooms. Mem bers were saddened to hear that dear friend and sister, Vena Thomas, passed away suddenly on June 24. This was the last meeting until September. A pot luck supper will be held on September 10 at 6:30 p.m. with a meeting to follow. Clarence Hanna The indoor court yard is seen from the central courtyard of the Huronview North project. The Huronview North project promises to be the largest, and most spectacular building in Brussels when it is completed next year. With a price tag of nearly $6 mil lion, the building will sprawl over a large site in Morris township just south of the village. Just the archi tects plans for the building run to nearly 100 pages more than 24 by 36 inches. (The architect's bill to the county for printing the plans for Huronview North was $5686.) Entrance to the complex will be off County Rd. 12. Visitors will drive first past the alternate housing wing, a series of apartment suites for those who don't need extended care and who will have a more free lifestyle. Next it's on to the circular drive that will let people off at the front porch with a parking lot in the mid dle of the circle. The most spectacular part of the building appears to be just inside the front doors. Off the lobby toward the inner court yard of the building is a two-storey high lobby court garden and greenhouse pavil ion which will bring the outdoors inside for residents and visitors. Just near the court garden is the chapel. There are two wings for the cog nitively impaired, each with 20 beds. There is one wing of 23 beds for the physically frail. The complex will also contain a fitness centre, several dining rooms, several sitting areas as well as a wing devoted to kitchens, offices and other staff require ments. Staff parking will be off Eliza beth Street which is being extended south from Brussels to serve as the second entrance to the site. The entire building is on one floor with the low appearance being broken by a series of dormers and pillars. The one exception will be the two-storey courtyard area. Ground breaking for the building is expected by the end of July with construction to begin soon there after. The building is scheduled for completion in 1992. was community leader Continued from page 28.
