The Citizen, 1991-07-03, Page 20PAGE 20. THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, JULY 3 1991. Qraduation 1991____________________ Students told " Be willing to take risks” continued from page 1*7 and the Indians. Mr. Garland was our grade seven teacher and what a year we had! We began fundraising for our trip to Quebec and Kingston at the beginning of the year and we wait ed with great anticipation for it. We went on various excursions but our favourite that year was skiing at Talisman in February. In June we went on our trip and what a success it was! At the end of grade seven we realized that there were only a few months 'til we were with Mr. Colquhoun. In grade 8 we learned all about responsibilities and what it would be like in the "school in the sky". Mr. Colquhoun's methods of leach ing did entertain us and eventually taught us more than we realized. Il was in his classroom that we learned the joys of late night pro jects and what the consequences of procrastination were like. We were the only class in all of Grey's histo ry, though, to actually get Mr. Colquhoun to kiss a pig for the Stu dent Council! Finally, in June we were rewarded with a trip to Toron to that definitely was worth all the hard work all year. On behalf of the 1991 graduating class it is my pleasure and honour to thank those who have prepared us both academically and socially for the future. As we close this chapter in our lives, we would like to thank the teachers at Grey for their hard work and also in teaching us not to quit. And to our parents who never slopped supporting us throughout the years with projects, assignments and tests thanks for everything. Now as we leave as Grey Central graduates we can take what has been taught to us over the years by both our parents and our teachers and go out and discover new things in the world. To discover new things we must be willing to take Poem tells continued on page 19 On behalf of the graduates I would like to thank our parents and teachers who have played a great part in setting the foundation for our future. In closing I would like Grads move on to new schools continued on page 18 some who will be going on to dif ferent high schools, which we may not sec very often, as you keep growing and learning new things, which I'm sure you will. You'll probably always remember public school, and may even drop by to say "Hi". To all the Grads of '91 congratu lations and always, no matter what remember to have fun! risks. However, taking risks is not an easy thing to be able to do because, as Leo Buscaglia says in his poem entitled "Risk": To laugh is lo risk appearing the fool, To weep is lo risk appearing sentimental, why God made friends to leave you with this poem. WHY GOD MADE FRIENDS by Jill Wolf God made the world with a heart full of love, Then He looked down from Heaven Congratulations to the Grade 8 Grads From The Citizen. To reach out for another is to risk exposing your true self, To place your ideas, your dreams before the crowd is to risk their loss, To love is to risk dying, To hope is to risk despair, To try is to risk failure. But risks must be taken, because above And saw that we all need a helping hand, Someone to share with, who'll understand. He made special people to see us the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing. The person who risks nothing does nothing, has nothing and is nothing. Only a person who risks is free. Good luck graduates in the future and may you make all your dreams come true. through The glad times and the sad times, too; A person on whom we can always depend, Someone we can call a friend. ^Mc DONALD > 5.....\ tJhaKiware ......
