J. EDGAR WIGHTMAN J. Edgar Wightman of Belgrave, died at Victoria Hospital in Lon don, on Thursday, June 6, 1991, following a brief illness. He was 82. Mr. Wightman was bom in Mor ris township and received his edu cation at USS No 17, Belgrave. His parents were the late John Wight man and Isabelle Nethery. As a youngster he was a participant and trophy winner in the first Belgrave School Fair in 1920. He has also been President of the School Fair. He married his wife, Jean Young in Wingham on February 14, 1969. His first wife, Winnifrcd Rae, pre deceased him. Mr. Wightman was a member and elder of Knox Presbyterian Church. He will be lovingly remembered by his children and their families, Margaret and Bruce Hamilton of Lucknow, John and his friend Shel ley of Toronto, Rev. Ann and Fred McGrath of Vermilion, Alberta and Ross and Barb Wightman of Fer gus, and his step-children, Rena Montgomery of Guelph, Phyllis and Don Metcalfe of RR2, Walker ton, Fred and Jacqueline Moore of Sebringville, Shirley Nicol of Brampton and Doris and Gord Chapman of Bolton. Mr. Wightman was the dear brother of Jennie Walsh of County Road Lodge in Ashficld township. Rev. Carolyn McAvoy conducted the funeral service at 2 pm. on Sat urday, June 8, 1991 at the Me Bur ney Funeral Home in Wingham. Pallbearers were his grandsons, Alexander Montgomery of Guelph, James Nicol of Brampton, Blaine Moore of Newmarket, Curtis Moore of Sarnia, Steven Hamilton of Toronto and Rae Metcalfe of Toronto. Flower bearers were Greg and Colleen Chapman of Bolton, Robert Hamilton of Lucknow, and Kevin Wightman of Fergus, all grandchildren of Mr. Wightman. Interment was held at Brandon Cemetery in Belgrave. ROBERT WILLIAM BROWN Robert William Brown of 420 Queen St. in Bly th died al his home on June 4, 1991. He was 63. The son of the late Bill and Cora Brown, Mr. Brown was born in Morris township and worked in construction most of his life. He was married to the former Doris Hood, who predeceased him sever al years ago. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 420, Blyth. Mr. Brown will be lovingly remembered by his sons, Bruce and Ken, both of Blyth, and his three grandchildren, Brandon, Nikki and Jaimec Leigh. He was the dear brother of Douglas of Blyth and Donald of Courtney, B.C. Rev. Paul Ross conducted the funeral service on June 6 at 2 p.m. from the Beattie-Falconer Funeral Home, "Tasker Chapel". Interment was held at Blyth Union Cemetery. LEONARD S. GARRETT After a valiant struggle against cancer, Leonard S. Garrett of Lon don, Ont. passed away on June 5, 1991 at the home of his sister Mari on Cook of Blyth. Mr. Garrett was born 55 years ago in Clinton, to the late Alvanley and Mildred Garrett. He was the beloved father of one son, Steven of London and the dear brother of Marion and Russell Cook, Murray and Pal Garrett, Clinton, Doreen Giles, London and Mae and Horst Rilling, Waterloo. Funeral services for Mr. Garrett were held at 3:30 p.m. on June 7, 1991 at the Tasker Chapel of the Beattie-Falconer Funeral Home in Blyth. Rev. Robert Barnhart offici ated. Pallbearers were Kevin and Ken neth Emmerson, Ray Powell, Wayne Cook, Gordon Garrett and David Cook. Interment was held at Blyth Union Cemetery. Ethel New resident in Ethel Bill, Helen, Norman Jim and Sharron Dobson attended the Ward-VanRaay wedding on Satur day in Chatham. Joan and John Smith welcome a new granddaughter Kristine Eliza beth Farrish to their family. Ron and Brenda McKeown have a new girl al their house and she is Alaina Maria Helen McKeown. Ombudsman visits A representative from Ombuds man of Ontario is visiting Goderich and Clinton on June 25 and 26. The Ombudsman has been given the power to resolve disputes by investigating any concerns the pub lic may have raised regarding the actions or omissions of the provin cial government organizations. Roberta Jamieson of Ombuds man, states that their task is to "rep resent the people of Ontario, individually, and collectively, in dealing with their concerns about action or inactions of Ontario's ministries, boards, agencies, and tribunals. Jackie Yuen, the Ombudsman's District Officer for London, will be meeting with concerned individu als, who wish to discuss issues on June 25, from 11 am. to 1 p.m. and from 2p.m. to 3 p.m. in the Research Room of the Huron County Museum in Goderich.
