The Citizen, 1991-06-12, Page 16PAGE 16. THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, JUNE 12,1991. From the Minister’s Study God’s love touches us BY REV. LORENZO RAMIREZ BLYTH UNITED CHURCH It's been five days since our son and daughter found a baby robin that fell from the nest in the big spruce tree beside the house. John and Abigail both desperate ly tried to put the young bird, that doesn't have any flight feathers yet, back on to the tree but to no avail. So they asked me if they can keep the baby robin for a while and try to look after it. With much hesita tion, I agreed because I don't want it to be left on the ground and be destroyed by a cat. It was dark already and quite cool, so we made a nest out of an old towel and newspaper inside a bucket by the porch to protect it from being cold and from the prowling cats al night. Al 6 a.m. before I had my morning walk I checked the baby robin and soon as I lifted the towel it chirped and chirped with its neck stretched out and the mouth widely open. What am I supposed to do? Brussels site of spring wedding Karen and Robert Glanville MCCUTCHEON-GLANVILLE Melville Presbyterian Church in Brussels, was the setting for the Couple weds in outdoor ceremony McMahon - el-tantawy Among two stately maple trees on May 11, 1991 at 6 p.m. in the Brussels Conservation Park Michele Lorraine McMahon and Robert Marcel El-Tantawy exchanged their marriage vows before family and friends. Rev erend Jeffery Hawkins performed the outdoor ceremony. As the new lyweds signed the register, Mar garet Mclnroy sang "The Rose" and "The Wind Beneath My Wings". Michele was attended by her cousins Charlene and Amanda Hamilton and Robert's best man was Dan Rusk, a friend and Matthew Sargent, a cousin of the bride, was ringbearer. Parents of Michele and Robert are Margaret and James McMahon, RR 2, Blue vale and Ingrid El-Tantawy of Montreal, P.Q. An open reception was held at Brussels, Morris and Grey Commu nity Centre following the service in Well I have a compost pile behind the garage so I took my shovel and cleared the top of the compost and dug deep inside and what a bountiful harvest of fresh worms I have. I fed the baby robin and what a feeling of privilege and a great sense of responsibility I felt inside. I was excited. Everyone in the family took turns in fact we all can't wait for the baby bird to be hungry. It was such a delight. 1 started to worry the third day because not only does the bird become unafraid of us, it's getting attached to us and we to it. Every time we open the back door by the porch, the bird would come and stretch its neck, flutter its wing and open its mouth anticipating to be fed. Meanwhile, I noticed the mother and father robin had started looking at us. So that day we took a chance and left the baby robin on the ground. By now its flight feath ers have grown but not quite full yet. Towards the evening I started to worry. What will we do? John and I marriage ceremony uniting Jacque line Ann McCutcheon and Robert James Glanville on Saturday, June the park. Guests attended from Montreal, Kitchener, Linwood, Guelph, Elmira, Listowcl, Palmer ston, Wingham, Chesley, Elm wood, Brussels and surrounding Michelle and Robert El-Tantawy borrowed the big long ladder from the church and pul the baby robin on to the tree as high as we can reach. The baby robin perched on e branch and we left it there. It was a cool night, only eight degrees Cel sius or around 48 degrees fahren- heit. It was a long night for me. I couldn't wait for the morning to come and check "our baby robin". At 6:45 a.m. I woke up, and still in my pj's I looked through the kitchen door and there it was, what a beautiful sight, mama and papa robin attending to "our baby robin". Tears of joy ran down and I said "Thank you Lord" you sure look after us all. Sometimes, just like that baby robin, we fall into sin not knowing. Somebody helps us because they care, and God our creator has always a way of touching us by his love. What is man that you are mindful of him and the son that you care for him. O Lord, our Lord, how excel lent is your name in all the earth. Psalm 8: 4,9. 1 1991. Rev. Carolyn McAvoy officiated at the service.
