292 steers at Brussels Livestock sale
Sales at Brussels Livestock for
the week ending May 24 were:
slaughter cattle, 442; cows, 165;
veal calves, 201; Stockers, 565;
pigs, 100; lambs and goats, 103.
There were 292 steers on offer
selling from $87.10 to $98.10 to
the high of $104.50. Forty- four
steers consigned by W. B. Pletch,
Rockwood averaged 1204 lbs. sold
for $95.32 to the high of $104.50.
Six steers consigned by Allan Cun
ningham, Lucan averaged 1327 lbs.
sold for $94.83 to the high of $100.
Twelve steers consigned by Glen

4H club judges pigs

The first meeting of the Central
Huron 4H Swine Club was held on
May 16 at the home of Darrell and
Karen Bergsma.
The meeting started off by every
one meeting outside of the bam
where members would be judging
two pens of market hogs. Then they
judged the pigs and gave reasons
for the second pen of pigs.
After they were done judging
they went inside the house to start
the meeting. President Amy
Thomas called tire meeting to order
with the 4H pledge. Secretary Dar
rell Bergsma read the minutes of
the last meeting.
Then members talked about the
Seaforth Fair, the Huron County
Judging Competition and the Strat
ford Pork Congress.
Leader John van Vliet then dis
cussed nutrition. Members learned
the nutrients that feed must contain
for pigs to grow.
President Amy Thomas then
adjourned the meeting and refresh
ments were served.
