Four heifers consigned by Gary Farm 4H club judges pigs BY JAMIE THOMAS The first meeting of the Central Huron 4H Swine Club was held on May 16 at the home of Darrell and Karen Bergsma. The meeting started off by every­ one meeting outside of the bam where members would be judging two pens of market hogs. Then they judged the pigs and gave reasons for the second pen of pigs. After they were done judging they went inside the house to start the meeting. President Amy Thomas called tire meeting to order with the 4H pledge. Secretary Dar­ rell Bergsma read the minutes of the last meeting. Then members talked about the Seaforth Fair, the Huron County Judging Competition and the Strat­ ford Pork Congress. Leader John van Vliet then dis­ cussed nutrition. Members learned the nutrients that feed must contain for pigs to grow. President Amy Thomas then adjourned the meeting and refresh­ ments were served. Mikel, Mitchell averaged 1148 lbs. sold for $86.01 to the high of $90. There were 165 cows on offer selling from $57 to $67 to the high of $75. One cow consigned by Terry Lannin, Atwood weighed 1230 lbs. sold for $75.
