Brussels People 4H winners Two girls received their six Club pin and a new leader was introduced at a meeting of the Brussels I 4H Club on May 13. About 100 students from Brus­ sels Public School came to enter­ tain the seniors at the Meals on Wheels Spring Banquet, held the afternoon of May 14. Their enthusiastic, lovely voices were heartily enjoyed, at a perfor­ mance following a roast beef din­ ner prepared by the Meals on Wheels volunteers. The committee is always looking for more people to donate their lime. Anyone interested in helping seniors in this way, is asked to call 887-6348. It's a small world! Visitors al the home of Mark Gropp this past week were his sister, Liz White, nephew, Mike, and great-niece, Megan Nguyen of British Columbia. While out walking one night they encountered Bruce McCall. It seems Bruce, who used to live in the Embro area, is well- aquainted with good friends of the Whites, who lived in Woodstock, prior to moving west. They spent some time conversing about famil­ iar faces and places. Councillor Greg Wilson drew the winning ticket in the fourth Club 284's Early Bird Draw on Saturday. Winner of the $100 prize money is Randy White. The final draw for a 1991 Chev Cavalier from J.L McCutcheon's will be held at a dance on June 29. Proceeds go to St. John's Lodge #284 for the development of a Masonic Park on Mill Street. The musical group "People in Process" will entertain for the rally which starts at 7 p.m. (doors open at 6:30). Members of the group are Chris Bender, Mike Cosco, Jason Tubman and Dave Service. Guest speaker is Rev. Jose Angel Valentin who, at a young age, joined a youth gang in the South Bronx (Fort Apache) area of New York. His life consisted of drink­ ing, smoking, doing drugs, crime and jail. There were many times when he wanted to stop using drugs but he didn't have the will power to do it. But someone cared from him and now he wants to motivate oth­ ers by telling his miraculous story of the lifestyle he managed to leave behind. Tickets are available at the door at $4 each.
