A standing room only audience was entertained as students from Kindergarten to Grade 8 sang songs from sea to sea. Blyth United holds Mother's Day service Rev. Gordon Pickell opened the Mother’s Day Service at Blyth United Church with the call to wor ship followed by hymn 105, “All Things Bright and Beautiful”. The responsive reading was Psalm 95. The Junior Choir sang a message in song. A lovely anthem from the choir was enjoyed. Lorna Fraser announced a pot luck picnic June 2 at the park. Bring your plate, cup and cutlery and everyone is invited. Flowers were placed in the church from the Wilma Radford funeral. Sincere sympathy is extended to the family. Flowers were placed by several families honouring Mothers. The U.C.W. meeting is May 16 at 2 p.m. West Huron President Edith Walker will speak. Senior Citizens and Grand parents Day is Thursday, May 16 for an afternoon with the children of conversation, music and refresh ments. Rev. Pickell chose as his topic for the sermon, “Mothers have a Glory - Your beauty is not what came out of you but what I put into you”. “Happy the Home when God is There” was sung. Benediction and choral response closed the ser vice. by Andy Overholt and Dylan Hutchins “Canada Is ......” This was the theme for Thursday evening’s spec tacular of pictures, song and story as the crew and passengers of the “Mini Price” took us winging our way across Canada from coast to coast. The program was introduced by Laura Douma. The pilot was Stacy Hahn and her co-pilot was Jamie Nesbitt while the stewardess was Sherry Tyerman. Dylan Hutchins was the tour guide who directed the attention of his tourist passengers Jonathon Trollope, Lanette Todd and Ryan McLaughlin to the ever changing panorama of scenery below. Mrs. Uhler’s Grade 3/4 boys gave us their rendition of Stompin’ Tom’s “Bud the Spud” and the girls of Grade 7/8 sang “Anne of Green Gables” to help us enjoy Prince Edward Island. We travelled over each province, enjoying the scenery, by way of slides and hearing the music from each class. We heard Quebec’s folk songs, Ontario’s theme, the prairies’ cowboy tunes and the bal lad of wnich told the story of the avalanche in the Rockies. Through the music we saw the beauties of the mountains and the coast of British Columbia. The program was well received by a “full house” audience. We thank them for their support of our efforts. MOVING UP Grade eight students in our school have been taking part in sev eral new programs and activities which are designed to lake their transition from elementary to sec ondary school an easy and enjoy able one. These activities began last December with a visit to our school from Mr. J. Kopas of the guidance department of F. E. Madill to famil iarize themselves with courses and the school itself. In April Mrs. Linda Elston, math ematics and guidance teacher visit ed us and gave us insight on some class expectations. In May we had a tour of F. E. Madill in small groups conducted by former Brus sels students Aaron Cardiff, n= Andrew Perrie, Paul Kitchen, Michelle Machan and Erica McDonald. We had an opportunity to share our concerns and receive answers to any questions we might have about high school. We also talked with Miss Michelle McNeill and she shared with us a very insightful view of high school, college, career selec tion and many other topics of con cern to us. On Monday, May 13 we visit F. E. Madill again. This visit will be conducted by Student Council to enlighten us about extra curricular activities, an important part of high school life. We thank the many people who make these activities possible. We will surely enter Grade nine with a more knowledgeable attitude and a greater comfort level because of their efforts on our behalf. 1 I Reddi-Chef is more than good value Reddi-Chef is quality products and wholesome goodness Compare any where and you'll find that Reddi-Chef has more to offer with value for your eating enjoyment RESULTS! i i I I Don "t miss the new Indoor & Outdoor FARMERS’ MARKET at Brussels Livestock Every Tuesday & Saturday Opening May 25th TO NEED VENDORS •Handcrafted Art •Baking ’Produce *Etc.
