The regular meeting of Grey
Townshp Council was held on April
22. Council decided that the Town
ship will continue to remit the Mait
land Valley Conservation Authority
in the same proportion as municipal
taxes are collected. (60 per cent by
the end of June and the balance by
the end of November).
The Conservation Authority had
originally proposed to levy a sur
charge on levies that were not paid
by the end of June. A number of
municipalities were not in favour of
litis and the M.V.C.A. withdrew the
proposal but requested the municipal
ities to pay the levy in quarterly
installments. Council reviewed a let
ter from the Ministry of Transporta
tion indicating that an application for
supplementary funding for repairs to
the Cranbrook bridge was successful.
The Township will receive $48,000
towards the estimated $75,000 repair
cost of the bridge. Repairs will
include new railings and curbs and
the repair of the central pier. Repairs
will likely be completed in July or
August.
At a previous meeting, Council
approved a grant of $5,000 to the Vil
lage of Brussels towards the extra
servicing costs of the Huronview
North site. A grant of $25 was also
made to the RCMP Veterans' Court

group members asked several ques
