Council decided that the Town­ ship will continue to remit the Mait­ land Valley Conservation Authority in the same proportion as municipal taxes are collected. (60 per cent by the end of June and the balance by the end of November). The Conservation Authority had originally proposed to levy a sur­ charge on levies that were not paid by the end of June. A number of municipalities were not in favour of litis and the M.V.C.A. withdrew the proposal but requested the municipal­ ities to pay the levy in quarterly installments. Council reviewed a let­ ter from the Ministry of Transporta­ tion indicating that an application for supplementary funding for repairs to the Cranbrook bridge was successful. The Township will receive $48,000 towards the estimated $75,000 repair cost of the bridge. Repairs will include new railings and curbs and the repair of the central pier. Repairs will likely be completed in July or August. At a previous meeting, Council approved a grant of $5,000 to the Vil­ lage of Brussels towards the extra servicing costs of the Huronview North site. A grant of $25 was also made to the RCMP Veterans' Court 4-H Club tours greenhouse The fifth meeting of the Blyth 4H Horticulture Club was held on April 24 at 7 p.m. in the home of Christine Stade lmann. The meeting was opened with the 4H Pledge. Debbie Machan then read the minutes from the last meeting. When this was completed, everyone then proceeded to the Londesboro Greenhouse, which is owned by Luke and Shirley Bouman. While there Mr. Bouman showed us his greenhouses and the flowers that he grew. The group members asked several ques­ tions about the greenhouse and the flowers. Christine Stadelmann then thanked Mr. Bouman for having us to visit the greenhouse and giving us a Challenge Committee to challenge the use of specified religious symbols by certain members of the force.
