Phone 887-9487 Knox UCW hears inspiring stories The regular meeting of the U.C.W. Evening Unit of Knox United Church, Belgrave was held April 2 at the home of Mrs. Mabel Wheeler. Twenty-two members answered the roll by naming the favourite spring flowers. Mrs. Ross Higgins welcomed everyone, thanked Mrs. Wheeler for use of her home and read a springtime poem. Mrs. Les Vincent and Mrs. George Michie led the worship service. Scripture from Luke 24 was read. We enjoy the magic change of nature in springtime. Similar changes can take place in our human hearts. God keeps His promise, we must do the same. Mrs. Laura Johnston presented the study by using Rev. Tucker’s address from the local paper. Life can be a series of joy if it is lived with hope. Our attitudes do affect others. She read the story of Laura of Greenwich Village, a dear old lady who greatly affected the life of a budding journalist. They became fast friends. Her third story, “I Must Save My Baby” related how a paraplegic mother saved her daughter from drowning in the family pool. With sheer determination she wheeled her chair into the pool risking her own life but was able to drag her daughter to safety. The meeting closed with prayer and a tasty lunch was served.
