Annie Engel was a special resident of Cranbrook The people of Cranbrook will mourn the passing of long-time resident Annie Engel, who died on Friday, March 29, 1991 at Listowel Memorial Hospital. A vital and supportive part of the community throughout her life, she was the heart and soul of Cranbrook as well as its voice. For over four decades, Mrs. Engel was the community correspondent for the hamlet in the Obituaries JAMES LLOYD ROSE After a long and courageous battle with illness James Lloyd Rose of Brussels passed away on Monday, March 25, 1991 at Wing­ ham and District Hospital. He was 42. Mr. Rose was a former transport driver; it was his hobby and his love. He was the beloved husband of the former Frances Cardiff and will be mourned by his two children Darwin and Tammy Rose. He was the loving son of Lloyd and Lucene Rose and Helen and the late Peter Cardiff. Mr. Rose will be remem­ bered by his sisters and brothers: Joan and Andy Cnockaert of Mit­ chell, Marilyn and Dennis Kerr of Woodstock, Robert Rose of Lon­ don, Nancy and Richard Slumskie of Dobbinton and Elizabeth and Peter Van Bakel of Dublin. He is survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law Fred and Marie Car­ diff of Windsor and Gary and Jean Orth of Molesworth. He will be missed by many nieces and newspapers. Readers of The Citi­ zen, Huron Expositor, Listowel Banner and for a while the Strat­ ford Beacon Herald looked forward to her reports on community happ­ enings. Mrs. Engel was actively involved in community and church work being an elder at Knox Presbyter­ ian and working with the Women's Institute. Grey township Reeve nephews. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Thursday afternoon at John’s Anglican Church. Rev. David Fuller officiated. Pallbearers were: Fred Cardiff. Gary Orth. Andy Cnockaert, Dennis Kerr, Richard Slumskie and Peter Van Bakel. Interment will be held in the spring at Brussels Cemetery. NORMA GLOUSHER Mrs. Norma Eileen Giousher of Londesboro passed away in Clinton Public Hospital on Sunday, March 24, 1991. The former Norma Eileen Dexter was born in Hullett Township on April 29, 1925. She was the daughter of the late Austin and Mae (Adams) Dexter. Mrs. Giousher was an active member of Londesboro United Church and the United Church Women. She was the beloved wife of Wilmer and loving mother of Stewart and his wife Sharon of Goderich and Barbara and her husband Kim Hodgins of Vanastra. She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Jennifer and Leona Armstrong said, “Annie will certainly be missed. She was a silent worker, always doing things for people, always ready to lend a helping hand to her neighbours.’’ Blessed for most of her 88 years with good health, Mrs. Engel had suffered from illness over the last few months. She was predeceased by her husabnd Mac in 1967 and by her only son Gordon in 1983. She Jamie Hodgins and Stacey and Sheena Giousher. She is survived by her sisters, Ethel (Mrs. Stanley Ball), Auburn; Viola (Mrs. John Sanderson) Blyth; and Feme (Mrs. Nelson McClure) Seaforth. She was predeceased by a brother Elmer in infancy. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Paul Ross and Rev. David Snihur of Woodstock at the Beattie- Falconer Funeral Home “Tasker Chapel" in Blyth on Tuesday, March 26 at 2:30 p.m. Flowerbearers were nephews Bob Trick, Bryan McClure, Butch Hoffman and Daryk Ball. Pallbearers were nephews Elmer Sanderson, Daryl Ball, Clayton McClure, Doug McClinchey, Larry Giousher and Michael Giousher. Internment will be in Clinton Cemetery. A new spirit of giving A national program to encourage giving and volunteering was the beloved mother-in-law of Marilyn Engel-Clark of Stratford and the dear grandmother of Sharon Engel of London, Roseanne and Ron Burdett of Waterloo, Tracy and Kamile Abado of Lon­ don, Paul and Debbie Engel of Kitchener and Susan Engel of London. She will be dearly missed by her four great-grandchildren: Brent and Brittany Burdette, Alicia Engel and Amanda Abado. Mrs. Engel was the dear sister of Jean Keyes and her husband Jim of Seaforth and the late Fred Small- "I'd never made arrangements before" We have served many families during their time of loss.
