Hill again this year. He left a
basket of coloured eggs at quite a
few of the neighbourhood door
steps.

Sheila Richards over the weekend.

Easter dinner.
Mrs. Eleanor Hemingway spent

The regular meeting of Morning
Star Rebekah Lodge, Brussels took
place on March 26 with Noble
Grand Janet McCutcheon presid
ing.
The Lodge members have re
ceived an invitation to attend the
regular meeting of Monkton Star
Lodge, Monkton on April 10 at 8
p.m. At this meeting their District
Deputy President June Chapman
will be paying them her official
visit. It was reported that the
winner of the U.N. trip to the
United Nations was Sandra Coultes
of Clinton. This trip is sponsored
annually by both the I.O.O.F and
Rebekah Lodges of Ontario.
After the meeting a quiz was
conducted by the social committee
and lunch was served by the lunch
committee. The next card party will
be held on April 15 in the Lodge
rooms at 8 p.m.
Dart winners receive trophies

On Saturday, March 23 the
Brussels Legion Cribbage team of
Cam and Mary Ross, Les Brewer
and Gord Nichol travelled to
Gananoque to participate in the
Provincial Cribbage playoffs. The
Brussels team finished tied for
ninth place.
Monday, March 25 was the final
night of the Monday night mixed
darts. The following people receiv
ed trophies: first place finish for
the men, Dave Adams with 72
points and Paul Willie, second with
71 points; first for the ladies, Barb
Elliott with 70 points and second
was Barb Fischer with 65 points.
Winning in the “high” “low”
pairs tournament was the team of
Andy Adams and Didi Nethery first
and Barb Fischer and Bill Nethery
second. Also receiving a plaque
was Wally Mason, the only partici
pant to shoot a 180 score. Monday
night mixed darts will resume in
a month’s time for a summer
league. Anyone interested can
contact the Legion for details.
The next euchre night will be
April 3 at 7:30 p.m. Cost is $1.50
per person. Everyone is welcome to
attend.
The next General meeting of the
Brussels Legion will be Monday,
April 15 at 8 p.m. in the lounge. All
voting members are urged to
attend.
May 24 will be the installation of
officers. This will be performed by
the Wingham branch installing
team. The Mitchell branch is also
invited for a social time afterwards.

Youth Group conducts
Mennonite sunrise service
On Easter Sunday the Youth
Group of Brussels Mennonite
Fellowship was in charge of a
meaningful Sunrise Service at 7:30
a.m. Various members took part in
skits ar;d Michelle Freeman led the
service. Larproms and Demarays
helped with the music. Aaron
Cardiff had a children’s story. The
Youth Group also served a pot luck
breakfast and a time of fellowship
was enjoyed until the regular
service at 9:30 a.m.
Elwin Garland gave the message
“In a Different Voice” and Alice
Knorr was the worship leader. The
Horsts, Demarays, and Yvonne
Dettweiler blessed the congrega
tion with special music. Thelma
Steinman, accompanied by Anne
Hemingway, led the congregation
al singing. Michelle Freeman read
a children’s story.
Last week Dorothy Bauman,
shared with the congregation in the
form of music and dance, at the
Sunday morning service. At this
month’s Ladies meeting, Mary
Mae Swartzentruber spoke on the
topic of spirituality. Linda Garland
and Marg Becker had organized
the meeting.
The Life Leaders Group and the
Christian Education Committee
met through the week. Margaret
MacLeod was in charge of the
regular Nursing Home Service on
Friday evening.
The Youth had a travelling
games evening on Friday night
with fun at Pardys and at Kitchens.
On March 24 the Youth held an
evening service at the Church at
which they related their experi
ences the week of March Break as
they were doing volunteer work in
Hamilton.
