Paul Ross conducted the morning service at Knox United Church and Nancy Park was organ­ ist. The flowers in the sanctuary were in memory of the late Donna Powell placed by her family. Rev. Ross gave the call to worship followed by the hymn, ‘‘Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee”. Rev. Ross told the children’s story and also gave the Prayer of Confession and Assurance of Pardon followed by choral response. The hymn, ‘‘This is My Father’s World” was sung. Church needs knitters Rev. Ross read the scripture from II Kings and Matthew. The hymn, “I am Thine O Lord” was sung. Rev. Ross’ sermon was entitled “The Spiritual Side of Scouting” and the prayer chorus was sung. Rev. Ross gave the prayer of thanksgiving and concern and the Lord’s Prayer was repeated in unison. The offering was received by Kevin Webster and Maurice Bean and for the Sunday School, dona­ tions were brought forward by Chris Dunbar and David Haggitt and dedicated. The hymn, “All Things Bright and Beautiful” was sung. Rev. Ross pronounced the benediction and the choral response, “Stand Up. Stand Up for Jesus” concluded the service. An early hymn-sing will begin on Sunday, March 3. meets The monthly meeting of the Presbyterian Women’s Missionary Society was, held at the home of Marion Haggitt. The president Martha Daer pre­ sided and welcomed all to the meeting. Martha was in charge of the devotional period. The four­ teenth chapter of St. John was read alternately. The meditation was entitled “Sharing Trust on a Jour­ ney”. The study was taken by Lillian Letherland with the heading Oka Gibeon and Us. A piece “Who offereth praise glorifieth Me” was read. All present repeated the mizpah benediction. The next meeting will be held at the home of Lillian Letherland. Oops! There was a mistake printed in the U.C.W. article on the Belgrave page in last week’s edition of The Citizen. It read the treasurer’s year-end balance was $11,303.33. The correct amount is $1,303.33. Get Well wishes go out to Miss April Gross who is a patient in University Hospital, London. She is wished a speedy recovery. Anyone wishing to help with a layette for the Knox United Church to knit sweaters, mitts, toques or slippers, please contact Jean Plaetzer for yarn, etc. This is done every year for the needy children, infants and also for children 3- 10 years old and crib sheets are also needed. This would be much appreciated. 6 tables in play at euchre There were six tables in play at the euchre party held at the Community Centre on Tuesday evening, February 12. Prizes went to: high lady, Grace Cartwright; low lady, Ruth Jardin; high man, Ell Lapp; low man, Eunice Arthur (playing as a man); novelty, Dorothy Grange. Euchre parties are held every Tuesday evening at the Auburn Community Centre at 8 p.m. Everyone is welcome. Book shares views on ‘Changing for the Better’ In an effort to get Canadian’s views on Confederation and the economy a discussion paper has been made available at Huron County’s public libraries. “Changing For the Better” was prepared by the Select Committee on Ontario in Confederation. The Committee which is travelling throughout Ontario is asking the public to tell them their views on the challenges facing our economy and society. The booklet “Changing For the Better” will be a useful starting point for discussion. It will explain some of the issues and how your views can be heard. It is available at no cost at the Huron Public libraries and at the constituency office of Paul Klopp, M.P.P. at 19 Victoria St. in Clinton.
