Brussels sets loading zones
Brussels council will prepare a
bylaw to set up school bus loading
zones at the Brussels Public School
it was decided at the Feb. 11
meeting of council.
The situation had first been
brought to the attention of council
by Gerry Wheeler and was further
explained in a letter from the
Huron County Board of Education.
Without a loading zone being
designated, buses must sit with
their flashers on while they load
children. This means traffic is tied
up. The new bylaw and signs to be
erected will change the situation.*****
Council received the resignation
of Alex MacDonald as the chief
building official (building inspec-
tor) of the village. Council agreed
to advertise to try to find a new
inspector.
*****
Also resigning was Cecil Moore
as chairman of the Brussels Medi
cal-Dental Centre. An advertise
ment has been placed seeking a
replacement for Mr. Moore on the
board.
*****
A new boiler will be installed in
the basement of the village office.
*****
Beverley Brown was appointed
as the Brussels representative on
the Wingham and District Hospital
Board replacing Stephen Betts.
Now dessert!
Brittny Peters of Blyth seems quite pleased with the meal
served at Trinity Anglican’s Pancake Supper held at
Memorial Hall on February 12, Pancake Tuesday. The
annual event attracted a good crowd of people this year, who
came out to enjoy a variety of salads and desserts, and of
course pancakes and sausages.

ed to purchase a trailer for storage
purposes at the meeting on Febru
ary 12. Council instructed road

port at a cost of $1,000.
Council approved the proposed
property agreements for sideroad
30/31, Cone. 11 and sideroad
35/36, Cone. 10 subject to approval
from the Ministry of Transporta
tion. These agreements concern
the construction of County Road 15

Dump cost-sharing comes
under discussion
Continued from page 1
Hullett with the municipalities
splitting capital costs equally, 50/
50. Recent figures had suggested
Blyth’s use of the site was actually
40 per cent of total use and
apparently Hullett representatives
suggested operating costs should
be apportioned on that basis.
However, Reeve Albert Wasson
said, the township still wanted to
keep the 50/50 share of capital
costs. The village had agreed to go
along with the even split of capital
costs in the past even though it
used the site less because it felt
that was the agreement but he
seemed unwilling to talk about
changes now without reopening the
whole agreement. “We’ll either
leave it the way it is or we’ll change
everything,’’ Reeve Wasson said
with determination.
