PAGE 7. holds annual meeting Members of Calvin-Brick United Church gathered at the home of Rev. and Mrs. Peter Tucker on Sunday evening, January 27 for their annual meeting. Rev. Tucker welcomed all present and presided over the meeting with Ivan Dow the appointed secretary. With the annual reports distri­ buted at the morning church ser­ vice members had more time to study the various reports which showed that the congregation had met their obligations. It was agreed to accept the proposed 1991 budget of the pas­ toral charge. Officers elected to retire at 1992 session were Jim Taylor, Ivan Dow. Stewards are: Jim McGee, Jim Taylor, Mrs. Roy Dawson (one year). Trustee is George McGee. Appointments are: United Church Women representative to Official Board, Mrs. Richard Moore; Music Committee, Mrs. George McGee and Mrs. Donald Dow; Ministry and Personnel Committee, Ivan Dow and Mrs. Richard Moore; Observer Representative, Gordon McBurney. The anniversary date is set for June 2 with Rev. John Neilson of Whitechurch as guest speaker. It was mentioned that in 1992 the township of East Wawanosh will be celebrating its 125th anniversary and it was suggested that our church hold a special service in connection with the celebration. Rev. Tucker expressed thanks to the congregation for their support during the year. Jim McGee re­ plied thanking Rev. and Mrs. Tucker for their leadership and guidance during the year. Phone 887-9487 Knox names Stewards The annual meeting of Knox United Church, Belgrave, was held Sunday, January 27 after the morning service following lunch. There were 45 members present. Having completed 27 years as Pastoral Charge, treasurer Lewis Stonehouse presented his note of resignation. The auditors, Lome Campbell and George Procter had also served the same number of years. The newly-appointed Board of Stewards are: Brian Potter, Donald R. Procter and Donald G. Procter, to retire in 1993. Sylvia Procter was elected to complete a term of one year. The following were elected to the Session to retire in 1993: George Carter, Muriel Coultes and Murray Scott. Other business included the setting of the date of Saturday, June 22 for the Country Fayre. It will be held in the W.I. Hall and the church basement. NOM1H0 Community extends sympathy to family of former resident The annual meeting of Knox Church, Cranbrook was held in the cjiurcjj.basement on January 29 at 7 p.m., following a pot luck supper. All departments of the congrega­ tion were well represented so business proceeded smoothly. Rev. Webb was chairman and Eleanor Stevenson, secretary. Three managers were appointed to fill vacancies: Donna Knight, Nancy Vanass, and Wilfred Strick­ ler for another term. The commit­ ment to Presbyterian Sharing was met again this year. Murray Crawford is a patient in Listowel Hospital. We wish for him a speedy recovery. There were 12 tables in play at the Foresters Card Party. High scores went to Annie Irvin (man) and Beccie Ruppel for the ladies. Low scores went to D’Arcey Emer­ son, Mitchell. Tally prizes were won by Agnes Harrow, Dorothy Hamilton, Beryl Smith, Irene Mc- Creight, Gordon McPherson, Harry Jacklin, Shirley Verstoep, Elgin Adams, Lloyd Smith, Lou Raynard, Keith Turnbull, Helen Dobson, Donald Clark, Isabelle Bremner, Cecil Raynard, Bill Craig and Iola Subject. The hall board had 13 tables in play: high lady, Iola Subject, low lady, Isabelle Craig; high man, Gordon McPherson; low lady, Edna Prior; loan hands, Isabelle Brem­ ner and Ken Crawford. Winners of Tally draws were: Mel Jacklin, Keith Turnbull, Iona McLean and Ross Stephenson. Word has been received of the Slippery road causes accident Slippery road conditions are blamed for an accident in Grey township at 7:50 p.m. on Friday, February 1. David Engel, 28, of RR 3, Brussels was travelling alone on Sideroad 15/16 when he lost con­ trol of his 1980 Mercury Cougar on a slippery part of the road, and struck a hydro pole, police say. Mr. Engel was not injured. His car was listed as having sustained severe damage. death of Mrs. Ross McTaggart of Mitchell. The McTaggart family were long-time residents of this community.
