Friday, Dec. 28 saw the Bulls
travelling to Goderich. Marty Rut
ledge scored a power play goal at
5:00 to give the Bulls a 1-0 lead.
Brett Long scored at 6:33 to end the
first period with a goal from Ron
Strome and Jamie Gibbings.
Dean Lawrie scored for Goderich
from Byron Bowman and Jason Cox
at 5:45 of the second. Steve Fritz
scored at 4:51 from Marty Rutledge
and Jeff McKee. Then Jeff McKee
scored from Steve Fritz to give the
Bulls a 4-1 lead after two periods.
Steve Vandendool scored at 2:20,
a power play goal from Bevin Flett
and Ron Strome. However, Goder
ich came fighting back at 5:09 as
Scott Jewitt connected from Steve
Carroll. Then at 6:46, Shawn Talbot
scored from Richard Bowman and
Jeff Gough. Jeff McKee scored a
power play goal at 8:27 from Steve
Fritz and Bevin Flett. Steve Caroil
scored at 11:14 from Jeff Gough
and Jason Flett. Daryl durnin
scored a power play goal at 16:13
from Steve Caroil.
However, Jeff McKee scored his
third goal of the game from Steve
Fritz and Corey McKee at 19:59 to
give the Bulls a 7-5 victory.

Clinton led 3-0 after two periods
before Blyth scored- a power-play
goal with nine and a half minutes
left in the game to cut the lead to

though Blyth pressed, it was
Clinton who seemingly put the
game out of reach as they increased
their lead to 4-1 with less than
three minutes left in the game.
What happened next could end
up being the turning point of the
season for this young team. Down

period followed and, although Clin
ton took a 5-4 lead, momentum was
on Blyth’s side as Blyth tied the
game in the final minute of
overtime. Ryan Chamney and

down with the equalizer.
Next up was a five-minute over
time with no goalie and the goal
had to be scored from inside the
opposition blueline. Most of the
play was in the neutral zone before

Trevor Aljoe at 11:23 to give the
Barons a 3-2 victory and move the
Bulls into second spot, one point
behind Hanover.
Saturday night the Western Jr.
Nichol in alone. Brian was not to be
denied as he slid the game winner
into the shell-shocked Clinton
team’s goal. This dramatic 6-5
double overtime victory showed the
Pee Wees what can be accomplish
ed if the mind is concentrated on a
single purpose.
Clinton went home to lick their
wounds while Blyth returned to
Tiverton on Sunday, Dec. 30 for the
C Division Championship game
against Ripley.
Peter Craig scored a power-play
goal to open the scoring with time
running out in the first period.
Ripley rebounded in the second
frame with three goals to set up
another wild finish in the third
period. Blyth came out flying and
cut the lead to 3-2 early in the third.
Ryan Chamney passed to Peter
Craig whose shot was redirected
past the Ripley goalie by Blyth’s
Brad Anderson.
C. All Star Game was played in
Goderich with four Bulls attending:
Steve Fritz, Corey McKee, Jeff
McKee and Jeff Roy.
The Western Jr. C. Hockey
League again have issued three
scholarships to players in the
league who are going to college or
University who deserve the money
to continue through school. This
year the Bulls have two recipients:
Captain Ron Strome and Steve
Vandendool. They both will receive
$300.
Play went end to end the rest of
the way and, although they pulled
their goalie in the final minute of
the game. Blyth couldn’t duplicate
their late game heroics of the day
before.
Ripley won the game 3-2 but the
Blyth players can be proud of
ending the Tournament as Silver
Stick Divison runners-up in this
prestigious tourney. Their play
caught the attention of everyone,
including the Tournament Chair
man, who complimented the team
on their fine play throughout the
entire competition.
