Phone 523-4360 Area woman in hospital Florence Cartwright, John and Claude spent Chrsitmas Day with her mother, Mrs. Mae Rinn of Belgrave and visited on Boxing Day with Howard and Marjorie Cart­ wright. John Cartwright of Mon­ treal visited with his mother who returned home with him for a visit. Friends and neighbours of Mrs. Shirley Lyon will be sorry to hear she is presently a patient in St. Joseph’s Hospital, London. The best wishes of the community are extended to her for a speedy recovery. Shuffleboard will be held at Hullett Central School on Wednes­ day evening, January 9 at 8 p.m. W.I. members take note that the January meeting will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, January 9 at the hall. Each member is to bring a guest, a craft and an article for a penny sale. Seventeen members of her family were Christmas visitors with Hazel Watkins. Holiday dinner guests with Beth Knox on Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Rick Swan and Ricky, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Swan, Mr. and Mrs. Art Knight, Bob and Cyndra, all of London. Christmas Eve family members and friends visited with Beth Knox after the Christmas Eve service. Christmas Day Beth Knox enjoyed dinner with Mel and Barb Knox and family with Barb’s parents Mr. and Mrs. Bob Irwin of Clinton. Kerri Szusz, Kelly Bosman and Scott Shaddick gave a presentation about the Toe Alpha Conference they attended last weekend in Toronto. Angela Horbanuik also attended but was unable to be present. Scott spoke on drugs. Kerri spoke on drinking. Kelly spoke on feelings and grieving. She thanked those who sponsored their trip. The Senior Youth Group will meet Thursday, January 10 from 8 - 10 p.m. for games at Hullett School. Clara Riley opened the meeting with a hymn-sing with Ida Leiper at the piano, then all repeated the Lord's Prayer. Clara had a reading “The man in the Tree”. As Renee Snell was absent, Clara asked Josephine to take over. If you have paid RST on top of GST, you may receive a refund from your retailer. The following changes became effective January 1, 1991: • To offset some of the costs incurred by vendors as a result of the GST, the Ontario government is increasing the amount of compen­ sation to vendors for the collection and remittance of RST. • The RST audit and refund period has been increased from three to four years. • The refund of RST on goods taken out of Ontario by tourists and on transient accommodation will be amended.
