Shower JVFitechurch newlyweds

A wedding reception was
held in the ' Whitechurch
Community Memorial Hall
on Saturday evening for
newlyweds ' Mr. and Mrs.
David Elliott. Music, for
dancing, was supplied by Joe
Tiffin's Orchestra. A large
crowd gathered, At lunch
time Mr. and Mrs. Elliott
were called to the platform.
Elroy Laidlaw addressed the
couple and Archie Purdon
presented them with a gift of
money. David thanked all for
coming and for the gift.
At the United Church Bill
Henderson, of Wingham had
charge of the service with
Mrs.. ,Millan Moore also
assisting. The community
wishes Mr. Robert Perry, the
pastor, a speedy recovery
and return home from the
hospital.
At the .Presbyterian
Church the Young Peoples'
Society had charge of the
service while Rev. John Bell
was at Walkerton giving the
anniversary messages.
Mr. and Mrs. 'Robert
Frank , and Robbie of Tees -
water spent Sunday with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bill
Gibson.
Miss Joyce Tiffin of .Tor-
onto .spent the weekend
with .her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Dan Tiffin.
Rev. and Mrs. John Bell
spent the weekend at their
cottage at Tiverton and :on
Sunday, Rev. Mr. Bell was
guest speaker at Walkerton
Presbyterian. Church where
he previously had been pas-
tor for 10' years.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Evans
on Sunday visited with. Miss
Linda Evans at Ballinafad.
The rest of the family, Mr.
and Mrs. Ted Evans, ,Lisa
and Larry were, away with
their trailer.
We are, sorry to report that
Earl Wilkens has been a
patient. at Wingham Hospital
since last Tuesday. He is
wished a speedy recovery by
the community:
Paul 'Falconer of Sarnia
spent the weekend with his
grandmother, Mrs. Cassie
Mowbray.
Mr. and. Mrs. Alan Fal-
coner on Sunday celebrated
their lOth wedding anniver-
sary with a dinner. Present
for the occasion were . Mr.

and Kevin, Mr: and Mrs.
Wallace Milligan and, Clara,
Mr. and. Mrs, Bill Purdon,
Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Tiffin,
Mrs. Cassie. Mowbray, Mrs:.

Mrs, Lloyd Montgomery,
Lorie Purdon and Barry El-
liott.
Mr. and Mrs. John Jamie-
son, Bob and Dale spent the
weekend with Mr. and Mrs.
'Jack Walmsley and family at ,
their cottage at Bobcaygeon.
On Thursday, Bob Jamie-
son had a party, to ,celebrate
his twelfth birthday. Present
were his brother -Dale, Tony
Falconer, Kim Treleaven and
his mother at the Turnberry
Restaurant. He received
games"and a train book.

On Wednesday afternoon
October 17 Whitechurch
W.M.S. of Chalmers Pres-
byterian Church held their
Thankoffering service in the
Sunday School room.
Mrs. John de Boer had
charge of the worship service
and read the poem, Thank
You Each Day. Mrs, Don
Ross was pianist for the
hymns.
The Whitechurch United
number was a duet, Near to
the heart of God, sung by
Mrs. Lorne Durnin and Mrs.
Wardrop with Mrs. Agnes
Farrier accompanying. Mrs.
Gordon Stobo of Teeswater
gave a reading, Thanksgiv-
ing. Mrs. Victor Emerson
gave a reading, What One
Person Can Do. Mrs, de Boer
led in prayer and called on
the president,, Mrs. Don
Ross:
The offering was received
by Mrs. Wesley Tiffin and
Mrs. John Gaunt and dedi-
cted by Mrs. Bill Rintoul.
Mrs. Victor Emerson intro-
duced the guest speaker,
Mrs. John Bell, who filled in
for Mrs. Robertson who was
visiting her sister who is ill in
Halifax.
Mrs. Bell whose home was
in Montreal, gave a very
interesting talk on scenes
from her native cify. She
spoke of the French customs
and the English and Jewish
influences. Her topic was
Preparation for Holy Days.
Mrs. Bill Evans thanked the
peaker.
Mrs. Donald Dow of Brick
Church sang, His Eye is on
the Sparrow, #nd Mrs. Mc-
Gee ,accompanied.
Mrs. Don Ross closed the
meeting with prayer. A social
time followed.
